According to Reuters, Chavez said: "Go to hell, s--- yankees, we are a dignified people, go to hell 100 times,"

These words are very appropriate!

Well, they've tried to overthrow him before, so it's possible they tried it again. NEXT time they'll have to be a little more covert, that's all.

Boy I hate seeing these tensions grow. One person to do something especially stupid can cause the milk to curdle.

I've heard those rumors! And since you are lucky enough to be posting from outside the media bubble we have in america they must be true!

Its not enough that bush is personally destabilsing Russia, Georgia, China, Tibet, Palestine, Yemen, Iran, Cuba, Bolivia, Quebec, Kashmir, Pakistain, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Indonesia and the Vatican.

He also feels some need to go after Hugo.

When does it end for this lame duck?

My diagnosis is syphillis. Only that can cause this kind of behavior. I feel sorry for this defender of the Latin American nations. They must be worried about all the lost income if Hugo goes nuts and stops selling to one of the largest economies in the area or world even. He better start studying chinese.

The roaring noises from Blackjack bombers is the only method to make someone who were blinded by ignorant and arrogances to understand what the outside world want them to hear..especially for those who believed 'gunboat policy'...it was an obsoleted!Well done Chavez,well done Mr.KGB!

He has made similar threats in the past, but the United States is his No. 1 oil client and taking such an action would debilitate his government financially.

What a poor customer service!!! Anyway....there must be someone taking over the No.1 client of Venezula's oil...Chinese leaders were eager to take over. Absolutely is a gift!

I'm sure that with the oil situation as it is, it wouldn't be that difficult to sell this same oil somewhere else. China or India alone would take the new oil on the market.

This is more disturbing for the US then Venezuela.

Another vote against Democracy. How sad that people who can't get what they want from elections must resort to Authoritarianism. I for one prefer democracy. How can a country call itself a democracy on the one hand and destabilize and overthrow other democratically elected leaders on the other hand e.g.: Chile and Iran.

Hate to burst your bubble but these two bombers are only on a short term deployment to Venezuela while they participate in joint training. Two of these Blackjacks in Venezuela means absolutely nothing aside from the fact that Russia wasted a sizeable amount of JP5 flying these birds all the way across the Atlantic for a pathetic show of force. There aren't enough of these bombers in existence currently to mean jack strategically to the Pentagon.

I don't know. I can't stand him. He took receivership of corporations. The U.S. took receivership of Fannie May and Freddy Mac. However it was not hostile and I bet both of the lenders will be returned to the private sector. Hugo forced the change of ownership on oil companies including American oil companies. I was very angry when he did this. He tried to gain more power by adding powers to his office and the people voted the changes to the constitution down; good for them. I was surprised. I hope he is gone in four years but I cannot speculate. As soon as he is gone I will say good riddance to bad rubbish.

I know that others on here will tell me exactly why, but I just can't see why I - or any American - should give a rat's behind about Chavez or Venezuela. Other than some really bad tourist trinkets, what do we get from that third world crap-hole that we can't get from some other friendly third world craphole? Oil? That's what Alaska is for.

This may explain why the Democratcs in Congress are agreeing with Republicans to open up drilling off shore again...am sure there's a CIA report being circulated warning that Venezuela will no longer sell to us and we had better get ready to pump our own soon.

Another swing and a miss from daydream.... Venezuela has a special type of oil that requires a special type of refining, which currently only the US is able to do on a large scale. The US could import more oil from other countries tomorrow, Venezeula would have to wait years to have another suitor be able to take their oil on the same scale the US is buying.

But I'm sure you'd love to see Chavez cut off oil supply and throw his country into ruin if it gave the US a black eye. The people of Venezuela are nothing more than cannon fodder for you in your War Against Bush.
