I think he might be thinking he's till in a movie set, where he can change the story line with some witty punchlines and stunts.

I can't believe people think like that. Was he not thinking about the people who were involved when he said it? Even worse is the interviewer asking that question.

Hey, he didn't mean overpower all by himself. He could only do it if the Funky Bunch had his back! If only America hadn't rejected them and fellow pop-rap superheroes Gerardo and House of Pain in the early '90s, history would have turned out differently. Ha ha!

I just cannot see wahlberg as a "hard man". He looks likes a geek.

He's like a real-life version of the main character from the Team America movie.

Go on Marky.. ACT your way past that terrorist and into the cockpit. You can do it!

And how many of us would have responded better to this 20/20 hindsight question?

Several wanna-be terrorists and suspicious people have been taken down by flight attendants and passengers since 9/11. Wahlberg saying he would join in post 9/11 is nothing strange at all. Many of us would.

But the key is the realization that its post 9/11. Nobody on those planes believed those terrorists planned to crash, because none had before. Used to be they diverted the plane and that was it. But look what happened over Pennsylvania. The passengers got wind of the plan and they stood up and fought. They figured it was their only chance, and they were right.

If Wahlberg, you, I or even one of those chickenhawk draft dodgers of the Bush Administration thought it was fight or die, any of the above is quite likely to fight. But that is just it: None would have known it was fight or die.

I say all the blame goes on the stupid interviewer for asking the stupid 20/20 hindsight question. Don't see his stupid name anywhere.

I can´t stand these Hollywood clowns who think real life is a movie set. In the event, did it even occur to this overpaid half-wit that prior to 9/11 everybody expected hijackers to, well hijack a plane and then bargain for demands? None of the drills in place before 9/11 imagined them to pilot the plane themselves and turn it into a missile. So no, Wahlberg, you bigmouth would not have done anything either.

This actor sounds like he has rocks for brains!! What an insult to those lost their lives on 9/11!!

My understanding is there WAS quite a lot of bloodshed in 1st class and the cockpit of the two planes that hit the Twin Towers, including stabbed pilots/flight crew. If I remember the New York Times article correctly, there was an Israeli, seated directly behind one of the terrorists (the NYT printed the flight seating charts), and he was killed, too. Likely while putting up a fight. Whether this actor would have fought is anyone's guess.

Familienprobleme nailed it. Up until 9/11, hijackings were usually diversions to other countries, or for publicity. Violence on aircraft was pretty much restricted to bombs. You sat in your seat and eventually you would get released.

Once 9/11 happened, I commented that hijackings would never work again because nobody was going to just sit in their seat and wait to be flown into a building. EVERYBODY would be rushing the hijackers. Hijackings are a non-issue as a terrorist tactic now because of 9/11.

I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention, he added.

Yes, your comment was intended to bolster your image as a "hard-man actor" (what an unfortunate phrase). We know all your "hard-man" films are documentaries, and we'll all very impressed, Marky.

The good thing is that as his comments appeared in Men's Journal, the only ones exposed to it were a few hundred extremely bored patients waiting for their turn in the dentist's chair who had already flipped through all the available issues of Sports Illustrated and People.

Typical American male macho attitude, I think. He thinks he can do better than everyone else.

Come on, who can honestly say he hasn't at some point imagined himself walking around with his girlfriend, when he suddenly encounters a random robber/hijacker/psycho/rapist, fights the bad guy off like Jason Bourne x100 and goes back to her place for the essential sexual reward. I know I have, and I'm definitely sure Wahlberg has...he was just dumb enough to tell a journalist.

    The Truth Matters

As tough as Mr. Wahlberg apparently is, it's too bad that he's not serving in the armed forces. Any guy who can single handedly take down a bunch of terrorists with his professional dance moves....why I think the Army could find a place for him.

Offensive to Mohammedans! Hollywood won't take that lying down. They do have their scruples. This is gonna hurt Wahlburg's career.
