La Follette comes from the greatest political family in Wisconsin and one of the greatest in American history. Liberals applaud his taking time to publish this assault on labor rights.

Show me the moneyyyyyyyyy!!!!

Government union officials told La Follette (D-union spokesmodel) to stall the law's publishing so government unions have more time to take more money from the taxpayers.
And La Follette did just as he was told to do.
Yet another reason why "government" unions should NOT be allowed to control State governments to the detriment of the taxpaying voters.

Imagine that: a Secretary of State who serves his constituents in light of a 50-year precedence rather than a polarizing, renegade governor on the take to big business, whose approval ratings are in the toilet, and who has lit the flame of recall around the state.

Heh, hes more popular in his home state, then Obama is. And if he is on the take to big business, a spurious allegation without foundation, then La Follette is definitely on the take from unions. arrestpaul got it right. Government unions should not be allowed to control state government, at the expense of the taxpayers.

Among right-wing nitwits perhaps, but not among most in the state. Walker's disapproval rating -- which now is above 57 percent according to the latest polls -- is far higher than Obama's among Wisconsin voters. But facts like that don't stop people like Molenir from just making things up.

OK, now I know you've jumped the shark. From a sign in Wisconsin:
"Gov. Walker, you may not remember me, but I can recall you."
He won't see the end of his term. Taka

Sorry yabits, you caught me. I was referring to Obamas overall approval rate, not his rate among just Wisconsin voters. I realized I had made that error right after I posted my previous comment, but then thought, meh doesn't matter, people will understand. Guess I should have gone ahead and posted that correction after all.
Thats actually pretty clever. Nice to know theres at least one person on the left, with at least a modicum of sense. Based on some of the outrageous statements I've been reading about this, I admit I was starting to wonder.

"Deals" is the right word.
Blogger Jeff Goldstein: "The ‘collective bargaining’ being ‘busted’ here is a money-laundering scheme that has union leaders taking money from the taxpayers that the taxpayers can ill afford (and can’t themselves ‘bargain’ on), giving it to teachers in raises and benefits, collecting it back in forced union dues, and then funnelling that money back to the Democrat party at a rate of 96%."

Doing some fleecing of the taxpayer while the fleecing is still good I see.

Today, several of the Wisconsin Republican state senators who voted for this terrible bill were in Washington DC -- at a fund-raising dinner sponsored by corporate lobbyists.
Partial payment for a job well-done.

They were? But why DC? I know little about the economy of WI but am confident a quick search would reveal that the state's biggest corporations are probably not located in faraway DC.
Yabits - can you furnish us with the names of these "corporate lobbyists"?
If nothing else I would like to know if they are also funneling money to Dems. As the corporatist Obama regime squeezes more companies more and more Libertarians like myself want to see the abuses documented.
Thanks bro.

Late-breaking news!
A Wisconsin judge has placed a restraining order on the anti-union law. It appears the law was adopted in a manner that violated Wisconsin's Open Meetings laws. (It certainly was, since the law requires 24-hours' notice and the Republicans put their hasty little meeting together in just two hours.)

I'm trying to decide which quality this statement reveals more of, disingenuousness or outright stupidity. Very tough call.

"Temporary" restraining order. The legislature only has to readdress the issue, correct whatever complaint the Democrat judge has and then pass the law again. Done deal.
The taxpaying voters in Wisconsin, Idaho, Ohio, Indiana will no longer be held hostage to the power of the "government" union leadership. Taxpayers run their government not the unions.

LOL! That's not what Walker says he's going to do.
Over half the required signatures have already been collected to hold recall elections in the districts of at least Republican state senators. The voters in those districts are going to take their districts back from these sleazeball Republicans.

Gov Walker is the head of the executive branch. This current issue concerns a Democrat judge, representing the judicial branch, deciding to tell the legislative branch how they can conduct legislative business. The legislature makes it own rules on how to create and pass bills into law. Those rules are handled "in house" by the "law makers" and not subject to judicial interference.
NPR says that recall efforts have been declared for 8 Democrats and 8 Republicans. Wisconsin law, created by the legislative branch, requires "legitimate" signatures from at least 25 percent of the Wisconsin voters who voted for that position in the last election to sign those petitions. Once the sigantures are verified as legitimate, the State calls for a special election where the majority of voters will decide if Democrats should be replaced by Republicans and Republicans by Democrats or independents or Green Party candidates or Tea Party candidates or the yabits party candidate.
The taxpaying voters want the deficit cut, government waste cut and "government" union leadership influence over taxpayer dollars removed and that power returned to the taxpaying voters.

The recall effort towards Democrats will not get the required number of signatures to hold a recall election. The effort is a cheap stunt promoted by out-of-state Republicans out of sheer spite. It's like Bernie Madoff counter-suing one of his victims for "defamation of character." Laughable.
Wisconsin is a blue state that occasionally votes in a good Republican -- like Bill Proxmire. Within the year, the Senate will return to Democratic-control and efforts will then turn to recalling and replacing the hoodlum Walker. That effort will succeed too.

Judge Maryanne Sumi was appointed to the bench in 1998 by then-governor Tommy Thompson, a Republican.
Q: What do right-wing fringe loonies call a fair-minded and independent judge who applies the laws justly, even if they were appointed by a Republican?
A: A "Democrat judge."
Sumi can wear that as a badge of honor, considering the source of the epithet.
