  Hate crime? Probably not really. Her being a lesbian was just an excuse to do what they already wanted to do. I would bet money that they would do this to just about any woman. Societies stance toward gays just made it seem excuseable in their sad warped pea brains.

  A sad statement on society. We really have not made it very far as human beings if this kind of thing happens. It's bad enough that gays are discriminated against so much in general (in some places murdered by state), this woman has to represent how badly we are in need of a little more evolution.

  I feel very sorry for this poor woman. I pray for her recovery, and for the capture of those responsible (and very long prison terms).

  No they're not. They're one of the most successful minority groups in America. They have one of the highest median incomes and levels of education. They've thrived in America.

  What we've learned from socialists like smithinjapan is that they need a "struggle" in order to achieve their political goals. And even when there isn't one, they just say there is.

  I guess the Bay Area is not always the bastion of tolerance it's made out to be.

  After reading about this both here and on another site, it's oddly interesting to me that, based on the comments, so many people seem to be madder about the lesbian aspect than the actual rape. It's as though they want to punish the criminals for the fact that they taunted her for being a lesbian rather than the brutality of their acts.

  This was no doubt a horrific incident. But how often are lesbians being gang raped in the US? Is there a wave of gang rapes directed at lesbians that I don't know about?

  I repeat, gays are not an oppressed minority in the US. I know how badly you want everyone to believe they are oppressed because you need the "struggle" for your anti-Christian socialist agenda.
