Why people do such stupid, wicked stuff like this is just beyond my ability to understand. It just goes to show how little we have travelled.

Richmond Ca., is not known to be the best place to live. A lot of people there have a lot to be angry about and that in turn turns out some crazy people.

I hate to humanize the attackers but animals would not act with such disregard for one of their own.

These attackers are a disease on humanity.

The attackers are the same people that voted against gay marriage and to make their point they would defile another human being. This is no different then lynching her in a tree. She'll have to live with this for the rest of her life. The hate...the vengence...the hate.

This is no different then Klan members grabbing a little black girl and raping her beyond belief.

I hope they are caught and receive Life In Prison, with out parole. < :-)

Hate crime? Probably not really. Her being a lesbian was just an excuse to do what they already wanted to do. I would bet money that they would do this to just about any woman. Societies stance toward gays just made it seem excuseable in their sad warped pea brains.

It's just hard to believe these men could go through life up to this point without doing something like this sooner. How do you go from "average Joe" one day to "public enemy #1" the next?

A sad statement on society. We really have not made it very far as human beings if this kind of thing happens. It's bad enough that gays are discriminated against so much in general (in some places murdered by state), this woman has to represent how badly we are in need of a little more evolution.

I feel very sorry for this poor woman. I pray for her recovery, and for the capture of those responsible (and very long prison terms).

No they're not. They're one of the most successful minority groups in America. They have one of the highest median incomes and levels of education. They've thrived in America.

I guess the Bay Area is not always the bastion of tolerance it's made out to be.

After reading about this both here and on another site, it's oddly interesting to me that, based on the comments, so many people seem to be madder about the lesbian aspect than the actual rape. It's as though they want to punish the criminals for the fact that they taunted her for being a lesbian rather than the brutality of their acts.

This was no doubt a horrific incident. But how often are lesbians being gang raped in the US? Is there a wave of gang rapes directed at lesbians that I don't know about?

I repeat, gays are not an oppressed minority in the US. I know how badly you want everyone to believe they are oppressed because you need the "struggle" for your anti-Christian socialist agenda.

Does it have to be a wave to be discrimination or a hate crime?
