Very, very cool. This will becoming easier and easier in the future, as will growing organs via stem-cells (in SOME countries) and transplanting them. My only hope is that it becomes much more widely available and somewhat cheaper (especially with all these damn enkais... my liver is probably about to quit!).

Pretty neat, but I hope they didn't use the arms of an axe murderer or some other such psycho.

Heck, if this works it is amazing. These GErman guys have great skill.

Hopefully it works ,and he guy has a better quality of life.

We need some real good news stories in these dark days.

"The male patient, 4, was doing well under the circumstances"

    Those circumstances are indeed tough.

"The man's wife went to his bedside after the operation and instinctively reached for his hands. They look just like they used to."

    Indeed moving.

I hope, you guys, won't be joking with this. The man has still to undergo a lot of therapy and will meet a lot of difficulties on the way to recovery, and it is unknown whether his body will accept the foreign organs or not. I hope everything is fine and he will be able to use his hands in future.

Question #1 - Who's paying for all this?
