Ah, the fickleness of man. I wonder how many people will be quick to embrace him as brother if he should be a worse president than Bush(I really doubt this, but the possibility does exist. No one can be worse than James Buchanan however). Only time will tell.
The crushing of these worldwide hopes is going to be even more amusing than the dashing of these hopes in America itself. This is mostly the Clinton administration all over again - just as Zionist, just as tied to Big Money, just as likely to use military force to enforce a so-called "humitarian" agenda, which is just a smoke screen for opening up markets by force to American investors and industry. Yes, the lazy elite in places like France will gel well with the new administration, but everyone else - from Russia to South America to Palestine can expect more of the same.
bebert: The actual amusing thing is watching how badly you actually WISH to live a life of suffering and failure. You would rather see the President (I like the sound of that) of the USA fail, your economy tank further, jobless rate soar, money dry up, terrorist attacks increase, etc. than simply admit you might be wrong about the man.
There's a reason world-wide hope it on the up and up about Obama. He'll surely fail to please in every respect, but in so many others he's already done a lot to mollify other nations, etc.
Obama will surely sell out America to make them happy"
like how?
America has been sold out a long time ago, I'd venture to say during the Nixon years as that is when most of the manufacturing jobs left.

Hope doesn't put food on the table. Only the hard work it takes to plant the crop does that.
Rather have him give the people the tools to plant, and let them take pride in what they grow, then just the hope that the food on the table will always be there courtesy of the Nanny state.
sailwind: "Hope doesn't put food on the table. Only the hard work it takes to plant the crop does that."
Hope gives you the ability in many cases for you to put food on the table yourself. People 'hoping' for food to suddenly appear are fools. What's more, hope has more of a chance of motivating people to bind together and CREATE the food you speak of than, say, the politics of fear, hate, and isolation... not to mention war.
the politics of fear, hate, and isolation... not to mention war."
Oh, hold, if you think we are going to be free from anytype of fear politics, hate and isolation and even way, I think you are mistaken.
I have had a fear of politicians for a long time, they always find a way to let us down. I am happy at the moment, but it will fade, I'm sure.
The dems are going to use the fear of the bad economy, hate "those who hate", and we are not going to have relations with them.... Carter and Clinton both did such things.
I really like this guy for the guy himself, I just have a fear of being let down, so I don't bother.
skip: "Oh, hold, if you think we are going to be free from anytype of fear politics, hate and isolation and even way, I think you are mistaken."
Fear of politicians and fear of being let down are internal locus of control, and not really what I intended as 'the politics of fear' in my comment. I know you understand this, but I want to clarify that even amongst only the SPEECHES by Obama and his predecessor there is such a difference in language and tone. The former president spoke of and in threats, told Americans to be suspicious of their neighbours and each other, demanded sacrifice and promised no returns, and said their problems are the result of factors other than themselves. Obama has stated that together they have the chance to deal with those problems on the same level, has given people hope, etc.
I have no doubt that in the future, if things are looking unsteady for Dems around election time in 3 years, they'll use some of the same tactics that we've seen from the Republicans, and I honestly hope if that's the case the Repubs. can bring out some decent people who can offer otherwise and gain the trust/hope of the people. I don't think Obama's going to turn around tomorrow and start issuing code reds and warning people of wire-tapping, etc. I DO think he's going to let people down because too many are expecting things to come to them from Obama without their making any efforts themselves. But I also know, as I said above, that with hope can come the motivation to change oneself for the better. Fear, does not. You can see that in ANY facet of society.
I'm not pretending that war is going to disappear overnight, either, and may even get worse in the short run since things are so entrenched in the negative in certain regions thanks to the past eight years, but I DO believe that dialogue and working with others will lead to more successes than threats, bombs, and the barrel of a gun will do.
Free from isolation? Hell, did you not read the title of this thread? Already the world is opening up more to the US than the entire eight years of the past president, when he took the US reputation on a turn for the worst. The US has stepped up higher today than in any point I have ever seen it in my lifetime, just above (and still rising) the day Obama won the election.
Hate? Well, as with the above, I think people will thaw out a bit towards the US. Already Obama has received calls from all sorts of leaders -- far more than past presidents, it seems. And if I'm wrong, mark my words, he WILL get more calls in the end.
In London ??? What no comments from Tony Blair or Gordon Brown as to why they allowed George Bush to take all the heat for the war on terror, that they both eagerly supported ?
Supposedly...
"A world made weary by war, recession, joblessness and fear shed its collective burden Tuesday to celebrate the arrival of a new American president."
These problems were created by "world leaders" not just one. Poor Obama, he's about to realize how truly great Bush was and how really hypocritical the rest of the world is. he will find himself in the typical "damned if you do damned if you don't" reality of the planet real quick. Lets hope he has the class and dignity that Bush exhibited, refusing to call out his fair weather European cohorts when the road got tough.

The reason why the hopes of the world have risen is because Obama will surely sell out America to make them happy.

smith - You are so right in your 10:59 post. The drowning right-wingers would rather be able to say "told ya so" than do anything to help America.
Let 'em drown.

The worldwide Hope index is up a massive 270 points...Dreams futures also surging.
And Altria stock is up 5% thanks to a personal endorsement by Pres. Obama.

My wife has a long time friend on Malta. She said that she was wore her US clothes yesterday. She cried as Obama while watching Obama being sworn in.
Obama doesn't just inspire hope within America, he inspires hope outside the US, also. < :-)
