Don't eat it. Shrimp fishing has the most by-catch (i.e., death and waste of non-target species) of any kind of fishing. Much as I love the little buggers, I try to avoid eating them.

This is not news. It's nothing more than an ad for McDonalds. "McDonalds makes a prawn burger"... Wow. What next? Mr. Donut uses more coconut sprinkles on it's chocolate donuts?

go watch "Super Size Me." After watching the process that chickens go through to become McNuggets, I can imagine the process for the shrimp will be equally disgusting.

I doubt that McD will be using anything but the very cheapest supply of shrimp, ie the shrimp farms that are fast destroying the environment over huge swathes of Asia and elsewhere. The shrimp are reared in overcrowded conditions (as are all factory-farmed animal food crops), in a thick soup of their own waste products and a cocktail of overdosed antibiotics to prevent any infection wiping out the whole farm at a swoop.
"Aish, the Environmental Justice Foundation marine researcher, advises consumers to "cut down on eating shrimp, or cut it out altogether—unless you can be assured it comes from sustainable sources.""

"...in a thick soup of their own waste products..."
That's quite a description--maybe you could join McD's marketing team ; ^ )
Try the new Mc Sewer Shrimp--specially marinated in its own feces.

No one can say anything nice and positive about anything anymore. I've had the Shrimp Burger and it was delicious. I followed it with a delicious ice cream cone. Can't beat the price or taste!

destruction of coastal mangroves might be a problem in some places but the poverty is worse and they aren't as priviledged to live in great first world countries like you...
eat the burgers and end poverty somewhere...

Of the course the pretty lady in the pic is going to ask if you want fries with that, or maybe a super size.
Do they offer super size in Japan?
Richard...super size is for people who want a bigger portion at a bigger price.

What the hell are they filleting? This really sounds disgusting. This this article belongs in the crime section.
Of course Richard0I812 knows all about the McD menu. As a regular customer, he simply feels he has the right to poke fun.
Does Richard blame his own waist expansion upon McDonald's? If so, he should immigrate to America (if he doesn't already live there) and file a lawsuit...

Sounds pretty good actually. I am quite certain that Japanese McDonalds food is probably the best in the world due to the Japanese love of food and hygiene.
I wonder if the shrimp are caught somewhere off Japan?
If I visit Japan I shall go to Ronald McDonald.

As a former worker at McD (a stain on my record), I used to cook the fries as part of the job. If I remember correctly, we used solid vegetable fat. Maybe this means that the fat is hydrogenated, in which case it is even worse than saturated animal fat.
The milkshake and ice cream isn't much better. All pumped with fat.
As a favour for my friend, I accompanied him to McD the other day. He ordered a chicken burger for 100 yen, and I got a salad for 200 yen. I felt as if I was subsidising his burger. One way to make a profit is to make the other things like salad and drinks expensive. Another way is to give cheap quality products. And the result? All sorts of 'bits and pieces' in your burgers.
Enjoy!
Whereas others have at least started catering to vegetarians (like BuggerKing in UK), McD has done sweet fanny adams. It really is the worst of the worst.

more heart disease and other related health problems in the guise of a new sandwich.
Why dont they just be honest and call the shrimp burger what its is . . .heart attack in a box. And make sure you get the fries with that.

It's about time. Why did they come up with this now? McD has been in Japan for years now. All I can say is, how dare they change the Tsukimi Ba-ga- to the Daburu Tamago Ba-ga-. Originals are always the best.

It would appear that McDonalds isn't that popular with the Japanese. Is it because of the food or is it because it's a US company?

Two points about our favorite eatery after reading the interesting notes above. First, their beverages do not contain dairy products; therefore, there's no such thing as a milkshake---no milk. Second, they do not any longer advertise 100% beef---there too many added ingredients. I know, for Mac lovers, they're still mighty delicious. I wish they would just do more to curb smoking---some of their shops are horrible---some managers, obviously smokers, actually encourage smoking.

No milk, but the shakes contain agar, which is good for you, as well as other things that are not good for you.

Looks pretty tasty. I like the name too. But as we all know, repeated eating of McDonalds food will make you a wreck. I've seen the effects up close. Not a pretty sight. Once or twice a year is probably enough.
