8 boys arrested for threatening to beat up Akihabara 'otaku' in extortion plot

Now if I would have been the guy they surrounded and demanded money, I would have slapped out my Solid Snake minifigure and kicked some major ass.

These guys are so damn lame, I can't believe someone is stupid enough to do this.

Due to their "minor" age, they will just get off with a minor warning. They will be out on the street in no time with no stigma attached.

They sound pretty amateurish anyway. 8 people into 3 groups, so that's 2 people per group. Extorting of an average of 1700 yen? That's 800 yen per person per extortion. Too much risk, too little return.

on some program a few months ago? hilarious. tested 100 "geeks" to see what they'd do if they suddenly came upon a hot woman being attacked by a drunken salaryman behind a car in a sidestreet. course it was all set up. how womand and salaryman were actors. first otaku walked past the car, saw the salaryman trying to grab the womans purse, walked back and forth a few times wondering what to do, then walked past, said "Suimasen!", bowed a few times and ran off!! to their credit though 69 out of the 100 helped the women, so perhaps the otaku have more guts than the average salaryman.....
