| NHK to press for subscription fee payments through summary court | |

NHK starts off with a few test cases, then puts the wind up the people who haven't paid up till now, but who don't want to see themselves taken to court. in short order, they'll pay up and NHK will get what it wanted.
A similar tactic to that employed by the RIAA with regard to people sharing and downloading music via the internet.
"but you have a tv, you should pay!" DOES THAT SOUND FAIR TO YOU, HUH!!!
That's the situation in the UK and Germany. It's not entirely fair, but at least the BBC provides a pretty good service, between its radio and TV output. Germany also requires people to have radio licences and is introducing TV licences for people with TV reception capability on their computers. It won't be long before NHK follows suit, I suspect.

programming quality here is already bad enough. this is like watching the unabridged, non-MST3K versions of Manos, Hand of Fate at a drive in theater on Saturday night; i mean, if you're going to make people pay, at least provide quality programming. imagine going to a boardroom meeting here. it must be like going to a nursing home in Aomori with this mentality.

This will be as well recieved as the RIAA lawsuits against downloaders.

If NHK wants to be a pay channel they should be just that. Right now it's like being sent a newspaper every day without asking for it -- that you can cancel, and that you're expected to pay for. It makes no sense.
Viewers' property may be seized if they do not follow summary courts' demand for payment. This would be nothing short of robbery in my opinion. NHK didn't buy my TV, I did. If they wanted to 'seize' their channel from my TV set, they would be more than welcome to do so.

Why don't NHK just scramble the signal for those who don't pay? I would be delighted to actually not be able to receive this mindless rubbish at all.
I will never pay NHK, even if ordered by a court to do so.

I can see how courts might dismiss the case and make a total fool out of NHK. NHK cannot just claim money from anyone, they have to prove that the person they are suing not only has a TV, but is capable of receiving NHK broadcast. All one being sued has to do, is to disconnect their antenna cable and say their TV is a "monitor" for DVD and games. Not to mention, I haven't seen a more clear statement than "there is no punishment for no payment", which I believe goint to come up at some point of court hearing.
I am now convinced paying cash when if I buy a new flat panel and have it mochikairi rather than deliverd. I don't want a new TV purchase being leaked to NHK.
Solution to this problem:
1)Take your TV to a friends house
2)Call NHK Nazi to come and confirm that you have no TV
3)Pay your final bill (grudgingly and with a lot of noise)
4)Go get your TV back and to hell with NHK

5) Move to UK where there is also a colour or black and white license fee which goes to the BBC..
| No case for NHK | |

Doesn't the law say only that everyone with a TV must conclude a contract with NHK to pay viewer fees?
If you don't sign the contract they have no basis for legal action against you. No contract = no liability.
I would also argue that it is unreasonable for the courts to impose a non-negotiable contract on someone.
Same in Japan, B/W TV NHK fees are cheaper.
| And then there's the Cable companies... | |
samrinoma (Oct 6 2006 - 22:52) | Rate | Report |
...who take a fee for channels we wish to watch on their service.
Included in their basic package is NHK, so is NHK going to take the cable companies to court or the viewers who pay their fees through their local cable company?
And the law states that anyone with a 'TV Antenna' on their house must pay NHK fees.
A satellite dish is NOT regarded as an antenna, as an antenna is classed as a vertical or horizontal metallic bar capable of receiving radio waves and carrying them through a copper wire to a decoder. While a satellite dish does the same, it has yet to be legally classified as an antenna!
Either way, NHK can still go shove their bill up their NHKASS!
And like I've said before, I'll use the argument that if you speak English, you must pay me money. If they protest that they don't use English, say you don't use NHK, and see what happens!
I'm going to put a 'NO NHK FEES' t-shirt on my cafepress internet shop called funeelife! For every shirt sold, the profits will be donated to a charity for cancer! (Hey NHK, do you know what that means? It means a REAL organisation that REALLY needs the money for a GOOD purpose! Not for stuffing faces of fat ba****ds on my tv screen or shipping some dumb bimbo half way around the world to act all surprised at the difference of living in the Swiss Alps!)

to pay any money to NHK.
"so is NHK going to take the cable companies to court or the viewers who pay their fees through their local cable company?"
my cable company asked if they want me to have them take the NHK fee and I declined. if they tried to force it on me and started deducting I'd write them an email explaining why I'm now going with Hikari fiber and to stuff their NHK fee. I can't see the cable companies trying this for fear of making some converts to hikari. and all those channels are the same price as one boring channel that after weather is not much good for anything else. i got the net for that. and JT for news ... kinda news.

and I will not pay for something I do not watch and have no desire to watch. NHK is a mouthpiece for Government propaganda, and Evolutionary Theory. No, I will not pay. Put me in Jail if you like.
