I love a good video game... but when people are willing to pass up life in desperation to line up and get game consoles, it's just pathetic, bottom line. They are all losers.

funny how PC lovers iterate the same line every console generation....you never hear console owners to moan about the PC (as they probably all have a PC and consoles and appreciate them in their own personal way)...you lot really shouldn't live in fear of the world moving past you....technology develops in varying timelines...there is no "better".

Doesn't it scare you, the though that you might keep spouting the same lame insult until you are 60 yrs old?

btw I love my PC, Live For Speed is currently my fav racer...didn't want you to start wasting your energy on how I'm such a console fan boy.

I get excited by plenty, thanks, but what get excited by actually exists... it isn't some wet dream brought to life on the screen in front of me. A robot is a glorified computer... maybe something you would have fun playing with, so long as it had a 'Nintendo' label attached. Me? I'll stick to human beings and getting out of my house.

Don't get me wrong... as I stated CLEARLY (but which you didn't understand, obviously), I love a good video game; GTF makes me happy as punch. But I stand behind my statement that only losers will wait days in line to get a new video game unit, and then avoid life and live in the closet to keep on playing it.

Peace please

Can't we all just get along? I am pretty sure it is possible to enjoy PC, Console games and the outside world. Some people get too wrapped up in one from time to time but you should not blame the masses. I think a consistent need to insult other people shows a lack satisfaction with your own life. Remember that a lot of people would consider all of us to have no life because we are typing our opinions on a website...

I think the Wii looks fun. It seems very interactive. I would want to see a lot more of the games before I ever decided to buy one and I would get a strap for it so I did not accidentally launch it through my tv like some have.

so you were just boosting your ego by insulting other people's value of excitement? This somehow makes you quite angry at them? weird....anyway, as you CLEARLY didn't understand my statement, I was trying to quiz you on how queueing for something you want would make you automatically a loser and thus pass up on life?

Hooray for the Wii!

30 minutes, even at DisneyLand. But, have nothing against people who actually enjoy and savor the wait (hunt) for consoles, games, baseball tickets, concerts... no harm in waiting for a few days in the rain.

Smithinjapan- " I love a good video game... but when people are willing to pass up life in desperation to line up and get game consoles, it's just pathetic, bottom line. They are all losers. "

Right on! My sentiments EXACTLY! Don't understand this "gaming" thing.

Peeping Tom-"Yep, next time you'll be telling us how great Sony, Nintendo & Co. are because they have Americans as managers, engineers, designers, marketing gurus, testers and the like."

I suppose I would but that is not the case, thus the current demise of those two companies.

"Yep, Japanese products are crap;..."

Well, I would go with some but if you want to generalize that is your prerogative.

"we can't wait to have the PS3's and the Wii's over here in 'underdeveloped' EU."

Speaking for the whole now are we? OR are you just speaking for yourself? I suppose the latter. And the EU is not "underdeveloped" as you put it, however I would say that Eastern Europe does have some catching up to do.

"Strangely enough, not many want the superior American 'monster' Box."

Good! I hope so! I think ALL of these "gaming" machines are a waste of time. Get rid of them all!

Do you read anything else other than Japain Today? Come out of you cave; there are other publications out there in which you’ll learn how desperate the European customer is for the PS3/Wii. I would recommend you engage superior American workers in improving American companies; Honda, Toyota, Sony, Nintendo & Co. are Japanese. No amount of navel gazing will change that, including what you want to call “Honda America” or whatever. I’ll be waiting for the next round of recalls at “Honda/Toyota Merkka”. You’d better stick with your 45 year old American fridge.

ok, so might not like games, thats your choice but do you agree that queueing (for something you want/like) is for "losers"?

If your successful in obtaining the new Wii, as opposed to getting to the store after days in line to find they're out of stock... then OH YEAH, you're a WINNER!! Not a loser ^^

More seriously, I personally believe they aren't losers! I can't think of any examples off hand, but there are lots of people with there own Fanatical interests, and Gaming Fans will queue for ages in line for the latest Consoles!
Ah! Anime fans will dish out £2000 Plus to visit Japan and go wild with insanity buying endless Anime Goods, I bet that is considered "Loser-like" by... your grandparents? Ya :/ I guess it's about understanding, or about being open minded... or both, to realise why people do what they do... like queuing for days for a Console.
My mind continues to rant off with reason after reason supporting each other, but I think I'm done.

I won't be buying that. However, since Yumiko Shaku is recommending the Pirates 2 DVD, I'll be buying that!

Ruro --IMHO those anime fans are, if anything BIGGER losers than the people with nothing better to do with their lives than wait in line for the latest consumer-electronic product that's not going anywhere and will be obsolete within a year. Slavery to corporate "fun" factories and escapism as a lifestyle... sad states of affairs, indeed. And what's up with the random capitalization?

Gaming, in moderation, is a harmless pastime. Anime-obsession is the Dungeons & Dragons of this decade, minus the actual imagination that the latter in fact required.
