The Emperor meets the army and the press reports as above. Who cares about the constitution anymore?

It used to be a tradition for the emperor to meet with troops before they were despatched overseas for missions. While it is little known, this tradition has been going on even after 1945, with the emperor meeting with JMSDF personnel going for their overseas training cruise each year. However, this time round, the "emperor sending off his troops" thingy is more public, maybe signalling a change in how Japan wants her military to be viewed.

...A large ticker-tape parade thru Tokyo and a march across Nijubashi Bridge should be next for overseas bound troops.
