What the hell?! They know where the gangs live and operate. They know what they drive. They know what aspects of crime they're into. Hell, they even know how many "part-timers" and "full-timers" there are. So why, in the name of Pete, don't they just arrest these idiots and shut them down?

Arrest them, it's a freaking mockery to honest hard working people.

The foreigners get blamed for the crime when in fact it is these guys doing everything.

...because the Diet makes a nice little earner from the Yaks. Why do you think the LDP has been in power since WWII.

The police also make a nice profit from them too.

As for the rest of us...my advice is simply ignore them. Leave them alone and they leave you alone. Hell, I have my office in a building full of Yakuza loan offices, but they are some of the nicest guys I've met in Japan so far! I did however politely refuse their offer of a 'loan' to buy office furniture - 45% interest was just a little too steep for my liking!

But as LetFreedomRing says, the cops know who these people are, and what they do, so why are they not being arrested? The cops are all too ready to arrest other hard working folk on pure 'suspicion' of doing something, yet the Yaks get to walk free!

better the transparent yakuza

'samrinoma' has described it very well. But let me add Yaks are
part of GDP figures so the authorities wont come down strongly
on their activities. Look at the robbery/forgery figures always
in 'oku yen' 100(s) of millions of yen...big business! In other
words Yaks are inseparable part of the japanese economy as well.

Let me guess -- Leather sofas made from the hide of the last guy they lent money to, right?

you will usually find that it's the Yaks that keep the peace on the streets, not the cops.

To think, I give these guys the government grants I received from the US Gov't at their kyabakuras. Dear Uncle Sam, I need more 'school' supplies. For those who pay taxes in America...thanks!

they only started the turf war so that they could have the great make-up sex afterwards.

And that nitro, is exactly the kind of crap they'd love everyone to believe.

thank God for that. for a minute there I thought the Yaks were a scheming, blood thirsty, murderous, profiteering crime syndicate, but now I see that they have a sense of fair play and moral obligation to each other and society. That must be why the cops dont bust them. too much heart.

Loan sharking, drug dealing, gambling and human trafficking (a part of prostitution) are not "victimless" crimes. These guys are not "nice" guys. That they've made peace, for the moment, only means cruelty as usual.
