I am very upset to hear this news although I have been guessing that Stringer would fire Kutaragi because he has his own belief and right vision for Sony that others cannot comprehend.
Kutaragi is a symbolic figure of young, ambitious businessmen and entrepreneurship of new breed that are absolutely needed in Japan now.
Those Japanese old establishments got rid of Horie, and the hired gun Stringer killed Kutaragi.
Kutaragi, if he was an American, can attract a big venture capital money and star a new business by himself. Unfortunately he was born in Japan.

Who is the next to go?
The next victim might be the future of Japan!

Why Kutaragi?

Is Stringer still eat and sleep in a Hotel in Tokyo only 3 months a year having the compnay pay the bill 2000 USD a day?

If he is really serious to save Sony, he must eat and sleep in Tokyo 255 days a year, and spend 100 days in the US (not in his NY condo), European countries, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico and Russia, and 10 days in Wales at home.

Those Sony people like Kutaragi spend more than 16 hours in the company and such places afilliated and related with Sony, 7/12/365.

If he pushes the core brain of Sony, who will remain to do the job to revive Sony?

I hope the Sony board realized that stringer navigates the giant ship by the name of Sony with a brocken GPS.

The globalists are killing all the great corporations by getting rid of their visionary founders. I used to work at SCE and knew Kutaragi. Kaz Hirai was their first mistake. He was too arrogant. Now he's left.

Once Kutaragi is gone, they will start outsourcing and then Sony will die like most of America's technology corps that tried this failed gambit.

The first thing they teach you in B-school is when you have something that works, DON'T CHANGE IT.

I know what you are saying.

But it is not Kutaragi's fault, and should be attributed to the poor coordination between the HQ that made a wrong judgment to release it and the un-readiness of full production by the manufacturing plants (you know the parts are made in all over the world, not just in Japan.

Kutaragi was very upset about this and he was the one who demanded Stringer to cut the retail price, to quickly catch up the sales. Look at the Wii.
Now Kutaragi is becoming the scapegoat, like Jesus Christ!

I remember when I got my NES, it came with two controllers, Super Mario Bros., and RCA cables for connecting it to the TV.

As consoles have become more expensive over the past few generations, perhaps we've now hit the point where the market is telling the companies, "No, we won't pay $600 (or more, depending on where you live) plus tax for a console without even a game, second controller, or quality cables included."

Sony still has a chance for the PS3, with Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and God of War coming out in the near future. They've lost most of their other good exclusives. Another thing that will increase sales is if Blu-Ray emerges as victorious in the format wars. However, that's a Catch-22, since the PS3 is supposed to be the thing that leads Blu-Ray to victory.

Most gamers saw this one coming. Stringer and Kutaragi never saw eye-to-eye on the development of the Playstation line and few believed that he would continue in his position on the board. Wonder if they have an opening at Nintendo for a visionary who is experienced in the console gaming world?

Sony needs to give Stringer and his minions their marching orders and refocus on the company`s traditional strengths. To allow these clowns to continue pursuing a failed business model is to risk further unravelling of a once venerable company.
