are put on a pedestal for their accomplishments twice a year at Koshien for tens of millions on national TV, people will be paying big yen for said kids. No surprise here. With Japan`s fascination with the young, "fresh" boys who play the games, and due to wavering interest in the pro game, the schools, coaches, OB and whatnot will find new, creative ways to bend/break any new rules.

It would be nice to see parents of young athletes all over the world stand up and tell the schools and coaches that they don't want them acting unethically in front of their kids so that the kids might grow up with some knowledge of fairness and right/wrong. But of course, that won't happen, because they're only driven by greed.

If they ban entire teams because 1 player does something any teenager might do, they need to bad all these schools from baseball!
| Why does this surprise anyone? | |

In Japan, rules are only a guideline. What surprises me is not that they were broken, but that certain people in the baseball biz seem to be upset about it. Most likely it's b/c of jealousy, not b/c they're being scrupulous about applying the rules.
