Atta girl! Hit those evil oil companies! Better yet, have the government take 'em over like Chavez is doing in Venezuela!
"rising gas prices"
Let 'em rise! The higher gas prices go, the faster alternative energy will be developed.

It's really a pity that this is what passes as confronting Big Oil, just populism toward drivers (voters). Granted, the candidates are so vulnerable to being assassinated that they can't expose the plutocracy. But Americans should realize it's all a ripoff a la Operation Iraq Liberation to control the supply and maximize the profits for friends of the administration.

Don't be silly, sargie; making oil companies responsible for cheating people is not the equivalent nor even close to what Chavez is doing (and gas prices are somewhere around 25 cents/gallon in Venezuela, by the way).

I agree with you here 100%, and the fact that this causal relationship will happen is proven by Bush suddenly saying he wants more money invested in alternative fuel sources (still involving combustion of bio-fuels, but better than petroleum products). The problem is, the big oil companies should not be profitting from price gouging, or else nothing will be done -- they too should be forced into research for alternative sources, via a loss in their revenue.
is a convenient scapegoat for big oil. again justifies more price increases.
just some anecdotal stuff. have a bud in big oil, pretty high up. thanks to the Iraq war he got a 72 inch plasma TV, took his family to the top resort in the Maldives several times, skiing in Switzerland a couple of times, and bought his second car a nice Jag. Before the gulf war he drove a Toyota Crown.

Good work, Sarge! (seriously)
Is that why they're causing trouble in the Middle East? To push the price of oil up to develop alternative energy? (joking)

Executive Summary
Gas prices have again passed $3 a gallon. But Americans should be used to high prices by now – the mainstream media have been warning them of $4, $5 and even $6 a gallon for more than two years. According to a May 7, 2007, CNN poll, “more than three quarters of Americans” think they'll have to pay more than $4 a gallon this year. It’s no wonder. The media have been telling viewers that for years.
Some key points:
High-Priced Hype: ABC, CBS and NBC have done at least 70 stories that mentioned $4-a-gallon gas or higher since Jan. 1, 2005. The national average for regular has never gone above $3.06 in that time.
Failed Predictions: Journalists and experts relied on predictions of gas prices hitting at least $4 a gallon to make their case. One ABC report said $7 per gallon was coming. Regular unleaded gas has barely passed $3 … ever.
ABC the Worst: Although it did the fewest stories, ABC had the most outlandish comments of any network. Those included three separate mentions of $6 or higher gas. Forty percent of the network’s mentions of high-priced gas were about $5 per gallon or more.
CBS the Best: Despite its typical economic gloom-and-doom, CBS served its audience by providing balance, not hype, in more than one-fourth of its stories.http://www.businessandmedia.org/specialreports/200...Y'all've been had.
Gas prices in the United States are among the lowest of any industrialized nation, and its roads are awash with large, gas-guzzling cars.

She carries on like one of those awful Big Brother popularity show contestants. Politics is about making difficult decisions wisely not saying whatever you imagine people want to hear in order that they'll vote for you to live in a big white house and make lots of TV appearances.
