CRIME
Restaurant manager, worker held in abduction, rape of customer in Osaka

OSAKA — A woman who was allegedly abducted from a restaurant on May 9 by the manager and a co-worker and then raped told police Thursday there were others involved.

According to police, the manager of the Shinsaibashi branch of the Pepper Lunch steak house chain, Daisuke Kitayama, 25, and a co-worker, Masanobu Miyake, 25, approached the woman in her 20s and subdued her with a stun gun around midnight. She was the only customer in the restaurant at the time.

The woman told police she was dragged out to a car and given a sedative. Police allege the pair drove her to a rented garage in Izumisano where they raped her and stole 50,000 yen in cash. The woman was left bound and gagged in the garage. The two suspects, wearing their restaurant uniforms, were spotted leaving the garage by a neighbor.

Police are questioning the two suspects on the possible involvement of others in the assault.

Meanwhile, Pepper Food Service, the parent company of the restaurant, posted a notice apologizing for the crime at its 200 locations nationwide Thursday.

. . .and other "kawaii" stuff such as large daggers, pistols, knuckle-dusters and other sarariman and yakuza "toys" are freely available in Ameyoko in Ueno and other such places. All symbols of the crumbling, sick society that is Abe`s "beautiful" Japan.

Very interesting. I will try to keep this crime in ming, amongst the others, to see how it plays out. The sentence for the gang rape by ami football players was a jaw dropper.
If what you say comes even close to what happens, it will be a very interesting out come. Sounds plausible though. The econ impact is intriguing.

These two are as stupid as they come. They kidnapped their own customer from the restaurant they worked and sexually assulted her while wearing their company uniform. Do they have name tags on their uniforms as well??? They should not be allowed to reproduce.

What were they thinking?

I just can't believe this story. What exactly were they thinking? How did they plan to get away with it? Did they think the victim would just remain quiet? Maybe the thought was that they had threatened her sufficiently to secure her silence. I supposed this kind of thinking is not too far fetch in Japan. I have seen women groped on the train and they simply do nothing to stop it. Japan is such a shame based society that the perps thought that she would not have the courage to come forward.

She did not really have to come forward. Whoever untied her probably reasoned out that something was wrong.

I doubt they planned to kill her, actually, since they were spotted 'leaving' and could have killed her before they did so. More likely they just believed, like most women up to the present and still far too many, that the woman would be too ashamed to report it. Stupid thinking, if that's the case, and my heart goes out to this young lady. Good for her.

I really hope these guys get over 10 years, but in all likelihood some 'wise' just will take into account the 'shame these boys have already suffered' and give them a one year term or less, or even only probation and a suspended sentence.

Depends on if they show the proper "deep regret" which usually means a bow and an insincere apology.

Well, it's going

"posted a notice apologizing for the crime"

I'm looking for the follow on story about how the police let these two guys go after they apologized...
Don't think it wouldn't happen, think again...

Police in this country have got to stop being the "illegal bicycle parking" police and do some real work, while forgetting about those petty things, which in most civilized, 1st rate nations are never enforced.

Check out the Family Mart story. Actually everbody let's take a look at it. That's precisely what we're saying - a crime that is taboo even for hard core criminals.
The jail time is going to be stiff. Their employer will beg the courts to have no mercy as his way of atoning for the shame they have brought onto his business.
