TOKYO "Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe attended the Japan premiere of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo on Thursday night. It is the fifth film in the series about the boy wizard and his friends at Hogwarts. "Japanese fans are the greatest," said Radcliffe, 17, who was last in Japan in December 2002. Hundreds of fans came to Narita to welcome him when he arrived on Wednesday, and on Thursday night, he was greeted by hordes of fans dressed as witches and wizards, complete with black capes, hats and magic wands.
Dressed in a white suit, Radcliffe chatted with fans in passable Japanese (mainly saying his name and praising Japan). "It's wonderful to come over here and to say hello. I hope people will be impressed by the new characters, the new performances, and the big battle," he said on the red carpet.
Organizers said fans came from as far away as Okinawa and Hokkaido. The film opens in Japan on July 20.
