Nissan releases all-new X-TRAIL SUV

TOKYO — Nissan Motor Co on Wednesday announced the release of the all-new X-TRAIL sport utility vehicle (SUV). The new X-TRAIL, the first full redesign of the vehicle since its introduction in 2000, will be marketed under the tagline "SHIFT_challenging spirit."

The new SUV has enhanced all-weather capability, provided by Nissan's latest electronically controlled four-wheel drive (4WD) system, the ALL MODE 4x4-i with yaw moment control. Also new for this generation X-TRAIL is Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA). Highlights of the restyled interior include the use of new water-repellant materials and a larger, washable two-deck luggage compartment.

Extended wheel arches and an aggressive front bumper design give X-TRAIL a tough stance. The hood slopes to allow a clear view of the vehicle's corners and the three-dimensional headlights continue the strong look. The headlight markers enable drivers to identify the front corners of the vehicle, helping negotiate tight areas whether on an off-road trail or an urban street. Price range from 1,995,000yen to 2,530,500 yen.

if the release had indicated its engine gives better fuel economy. But one does not buy an SUV to save on petrol...

I dunno, Zai. Unless you're off-road, it's hard to nap with the engine idling and the A/C going.

I love the name, though. It's like a parody of a car name.

X-TRAIL SUV: It's got seX, TrAIL, and L sUV. Not sure if I approve of seX before L sUV.

[And, Mod, it's common journalistic practice to lowercase idiotically overcapitalized logos like this one.]

These are a pretty good

car for moderate 4wd-ing. Might pick one up myself when they're released in Australia later this year.

But who thought of that bizarre slogan???
