- Tanabe
I plan on living forever myself.
What does ratios have to do with anything ?
The United States has the most centenerians in the world. Almost double Japans figures.
"double" is basically a ratio. this is why its useless to point out that somewhere with double (actually more than double) the population has double a certain demographic.
but sarcasm, good call.

soy sauce for breakfast"
Give me a bowl of corn flakes with some fresh strawberries and whole milk ( not that watery low fat or that awful soymilk stuff ).

Population statistics have little to do with centenerians
Japan has the oldest man right now, no matter how many centariand there happen to be in the US.
| As of 2005 | |

The US had 55,000 centenarians (largest number for any country), Japan 25,000 (second largest number). US population 2005 was about 295,500,000 people. Japan's population in 2005 was about 127,800,000 (43% of the US's). So:
55,000/295,500,000 = .000186%, or 1 person in 5,350.
25,000/127,800,000 = .000195%, or 1 person in 5,120.
So America has a larger absolute number of people over 100, while Japan has a larger number as a percentage of its population. A whopping .000009% larger.
Now, "Can't we just all get along?"
Moderator: Readers, please stay on topic and don't get bogged down on statistics.
throw out the disputed from both Japan and the US and???

Has this Tanabe guy's age been verified ? I wanna see the evidence ! Guinness has been fooled before, by two Japanese to be precise !
why are you so desperate to discredit this nice old man.
can't one just sit back and say. cool, good work old coot!
I mean its not a huge deal, just let it go.
If it makes you feel better, I'll say boy oh boy there are sure a lot of old folk in the US of A. Thats just peachy and cool. And possibly one of them is older than this Japanese guy.

You are quoting "estimates" there partner
!
Ha ha ha. And what about your "estimates", huh?
Guinness has been fooled before, by two Japanese to be precise !
Well, they have been fooled before by two Japanese, but how about the American "pretenders" that have fooled them before as well, huh? Yes, it has happened a few times before on the American side as well.

JT should be about Japan, right? And should not focus so much on US news, right?
Let's have a look at this:
"Enough of the deception... lets get to the real goodies here:
>Of the worlds oldest 39 people, 12 have been Americans... the most on the list and double Japan's numbers.
>Oldest living men since 1961, USA the most with 9, more than double Japan's numbers.
>Oldest people ever, 9 Americans... Japan ? 3, and two are disputed !
>Oldest men ever. Of the top 10, 6 are Americans ! Japan ? 2, and one is disputed !
>Currently 6 of the top 10 oldest living are Americans. Japan... 1.
>Currently 3 of the top 10 males are American. Japan, 2"
Funny, right? Because according to a frustrated poster JT should be allllllllllll about Japan.
Back on topic.....and solely about Japan:
Japan has over 32.000 centenarians. Most important aspect: it's 4 times as much as 10 years ago.
Maybe because of all that fattening rice?

This is a nice little story, but... what about the age verification ? We all know that Japan has already had two of its meager numbered centenerians ages "disputed" ! That is a fact ! Now, couple this with the poor performance during the last census... where municipalities actually counted people as centenerians, even though they'd been dead for years... and what have you got ? I say some dodgy bookkeeping and fuzzy math. So there ya go, "solely about Japan", but it doesn't look good. BTW... this, from the "validated supercentenerians list"
"It should be noted that a significant majority of worldwide claimants to be age 110-or-over have subsequently been proven to be false; these individuals and more often their family
or friends have their own personal motives for claiming these persons and, we are sad to report, are occasionally disingenuous (not well-intentioned)."
well, lets hope this is not the case for our guy here ! Unlike Izumi and Hondo, lets hope there is some real proof to validate his story.

According to you anything Japanese is always disputed. Just name it.....ages, sports, politics, business. It's always smoke and mirrors. Like you play the same old tape again and again.
Me thinks...your posts are "disputed". And believe me....you're standing alone in this, my friend!!!

It must be just absolutely dreadful to live that long
Japan has the largest population of centenarians in the world, with some 30,000 citizens aged 100 and over. No deadly diet of sugar, fats and more fats filled in with cheese and a bun. Well done Japan for giving us options in diet and lifestyle.
