North Korea

Fukuda said North Korea would have difficulty surviving as an independent country unless it gives up nuclear weapons and frees its economy.

``I don't think they can really become truly independent with their current stance as a very closed, hermit country. The people will be very unhappy, miserable,'' Fukuda said. ``The way they are, their country will sort of taper off and perhaps at the end of the day will disappear.''

Agreed, shut the hell up Fukada. He obviously feels empowered after talks with the US and is now feeling confident in saying whatever the hell he wants.

How stupid is he? You just get NK cooperating and then you go and throw a spanner in the works like that. Kim Jong will get his back up no doubt. Oh well I expect we can see more wasted time and more rediculous demands from DPRK anytime soon. Fukuda and Ozawa are a the two Ronnies. Bumbling idiots!

What a stupid, stupid comment. So irresponsible! And do these guys know ANY OTHER ISSUE other than the worn out abductions???

Meanwhile, Yomiuri seems to be spreading the fear with their six-part series:

NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR THREAT / Japan must prepare for war between U.S., North Korea

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/national/20071118TDY01302.htm

What are they doing to this nation?!?

Unless North Korea gets with the program and gives up its nuclear program, its economy will continue to stagnate due to sanctions and possibly implode.

I would agree that this is a metaphor

for the idea that lil Kim and his country will become insignificant to the rest of the world. But it's a poor metaphor at that. Oh well. Probably lost something in translation.

Well ... He's right. It is happening right now. Their people are dieing due to lack of care, motivation and food. All the food that they could grow goes straight to the Military 1st before their citizens.

Wake Up you narrow minded boobs!! North Korea is a dead nation and will become that if they continue with their failed policies. At least China, which is also a communist country, has some kind of trade policy. North Korea is very difficult.

So, as Mr. Fukuda is right to says, 'North Korea will ''disappear'' if it doesn't abandon nukes'. Which means the people will die.

What Fukuda said is absolutely correct and
blatantly obvious since North Korea has now for decades been on a path of selfimposed deterioration. I'm sure no one knows that better than those high up in the Kim Jong Il regime itself.

The regime is doing quite well with China's backing and Russia would happily fill any slack. Now even Japan is expected to pony up, thus the rare emotion from Fukuda.

and china doing well, surely they will tap into any slacks in north korean economy.North korea does always well in sports, beating far richer nations. There are many more slower and weaker fully democratic westernised nations if compared to north korea.
