Maybe he meant for people to laugh and not take him seriously.Yeah, so that's why he stabbed a man, so people could have a good laugh.

First, we don't know that he wasn't and second, shock and fear can do strange things to people. I'm sure we'd all like to think we would or could defend ourselves in this kind of situation but unless you're in it it's impossible to say what you'd do, only what you think you'd do.
Well said. Its amazing that people can live so long and not realize that it takes training and practice and especially experience in the actual situation to have any idea what they would do in said situation. Most would flee if possible or just stand still like a scared rabbit. A few would just beg for their lives. A few would attack and few of those would win against that knife. We have several cases of monitor courage here, people all ballsy while looking at a comp monitor instead of an actual situation.
Oh well, at least no "I thought every J knew karate" type idiocy.
I think it would behoove all of us to train and practice in case we run into a hostile Spiderman...with a knife.

I would be happy enough if folks just admit they are not prepared for such a freaky a$$ random situation either and give a guy a break. Everybody is Superman until Superman is required.
it is quite amusing.
I would like to think I would react instantly, forcefuly grabbing the knife-wielder in a vise-like grip, subduing him until I can hand him over to the authorities.

Freaky... I would have been stunned for a minute then run for my life, but I have the feeling I wouldn't have survived.
