Keep busy NHK and others with abductions while in the background you smash the economy and get some more bribes.
Nobody will notice. Clever isn't it?

It's a very good idea to distract everyone with a chance to feel victimised, thus giving the LDP easier access to the trough of public funds. Then, when they've bloated their bank accounts with swindles, they can ram through an exorbitant tax hike to pay for all the pensions they've mishandled and embezzled over the last few decades.
Plus if NHK agree to play ball and pump out shite about how terrible the non-Japanese are, the LDP agrees not to do anything at all about the funds they've also embezzled as a matter of systemic policy.

I'll tell you something about the legendary honour of the Japanese - it is bollocks of the first degree.

To those who say this makes Japan look bad:

1) Do you think kidnapping should be legal?
2) Do you support the regime of Kim Jong Il?

Because if you oppose NHK's right to report on this violation of Japan's sovereignty, it seems pretty clear to me that you support North Korea.

Aren't the statute of limitations up on the abductions by now?

...NHK and the government harp on about making friendly ties with the world, but as usual, Japan forgets about its own transgressions and continues to poke the finger of antagonism in the Korean eye!

Huh?
Where in any of the posts voicing concern with this directive, sorry, request, do you see anyone supporting the concept of state-sponsored kidnapping? Or of NK or its leader?
I think the vast majority are simply saying that this is mass over-kill on behalf of the government and NHK.
At most, a couple of dozen people were abducted, around 30 years ago. That hardly seems worthy of the kind of attention this issue gets given the fact that there are dozens of other issues that impact millions of Japanese.
Japan has every right to make sure the international community recognizes the wrong NK precipitated on it. But, forcing NHK to devote more time to it hardly seems necessary.

How about NHK broach the subject of Koreans kidnapped by the Japanese a little over 30 years ago, people forced into slavery, starved to death and murdered; and certainly not repatriated? No? Because NHK is a government mouthpiece, which is what people writing here mainly object to, and don't like being forced to pay for.

Oh, I say, Mr. Smash - well played sir. Hat doffed. Not a great deal on telly about abductions in the other direction, eh? You build bridge now.

Do you have any proof of this?

Yes, the Japanese have the right to feel aggrieved by these kidnappings, and if I were a family member I would be pretty annoyed. But it's old news now, and this is a direct admission that NHK follows the government line, ie it is the government's mouth piece.

We are supposed to pay for NHK for the dubious privilege of supporting an LDP propaganda channel, whilst there is no accountability inside NHK. To many posters this feels wrong, and it is not because people are pro North Korea, or because there is absolutely no sympathy for those who were forcibly taken I assure you.

You either support the cause to bring these innocent kidnapped people back to Japan, or you are on the side of North Korea.

It's a very simple choice. I know which one is morally right. What exactly troubles you with being opposed to international terrorism?

Australian Foreign Minister corrects NHK editorial

I know this is whaling but the principle of NHK credibility is the same. Friday night's NHK 7pm news carried an editorial comment telling the Japanese viewing audience that the Australian Foreign minister's call for restraint on the whaling issue was "condemnation of the Sea Shepherd's actions".

Foreign Minister Smith has felt compelled to issue a further clarification today, Saturday:

"I again call on all parties to exercise restraint, that includes restraint in the face of provocation,'' he said.

He said the Rudd Government had instructed Australian embassy officials in Tokyo to relay to Japanese authorities their utmost concern at the latest encounter.

Come on NHK let this issue die off - focus on more important things!

Don't let a few sad relatives dictate the news.

Focusing on the kidnapping rather than the nuclearization issue is more supportive of Kim Jong. You're the enbler, not the rest of us who are worried about a more dangerous and pressing issue.
