it was found march 10 and its now march 23rd. gee JT is so onto it!
The news itself was probably under a media black out not to rouse a crowd.
ALthough it was reported as a DUD, there is no certainty that it will not explode and the last thing you want is bystanders swamping the area.

And if it would have been reported on March 11th you would say "Is this news?"

There was a bomb found at a construction site next to my office about 10 years ago. The police came around to distribute a letter explaining the situation.
The bomb was covered under a pile of dirt and removed on the following weekend.
| it's not going to blow up even if you left it for | |

a few days in the open unless some idiot decides to chuck rocks at it. Better to take the time to make preparations, figure out the best time and route to transport it with what and by who. You also need to evacuate any people on route and you also need specialists to check to see the condition of the bomb in case it is already cracked, leaking chemicals, booby trapped, more duds in the vicinty and so on. I'm sure there are still thousands of dud bombs all over Japan judging by the shear number of bombs dropped.

cwhite, spot on. The bomb was found in Shin-Sakae directly across from Nunoike Catholic cathedral and the semongakko. It is a busy business area of Nagoya. The army are there day and night (so it might be hard to chuck rocks at it). Anyway they needed the week to secure it and check it.

In the interests of pollution avoidance, why not give it back to its rightful owners? I mean re-patriate it. Send it back to where it came from. It is the property of the people of the United States of America. Give it back to the people of the United States of America. Pollution is a real problem in the world now, this is Americas problem, they must face their responsibilities in Japan and Vietnam. Like little schoolchildren that refuse to face a situation that they have created, they refuse to acknowledge that this is even happening. Children are still being blown up by american ordnance in Vietnam. Innocent people are still suffering the effects of poisoning from similar 'gifts' from the kind people of America.
Shameful and disgusting is all I can say. John McCain travels round the world canvessing, how I would love to have the opportunity to make him answer my questions about American behaviour around the world. Condoleeza Rice is even worse. These people should be dragged into the imaginary area of questioning where ordinary people can force them to answer for their actions.
Last century the chief export of the United Stated of America Im sorry to say was bombs.
