They are getting away with it. It's the parents that are being prosecuted.

I can't believe some people voted yes. Kids will do bad things sometimes and parents should discipline them, but to be prosecuted for their actions? Come on. It's a slippery slope...

Why don't people wear raincoats with hoods? Far more practical than umbrellas in these situations.

I too find it annoying that they remove other languages from the menu. I can read the menu in Japanese, but I prefer English. Removing this preference from local models is a little bit short-sighted. Sony and Panasonic seem to assume that the only people using other language electronics in Japan will get the 'overseas model' at greater expense.
I heard that they remove the other languages from Japanese models is that some Japanese accidentally change the language and then they can't read it to change it back.

I have no problem with people drinking. And I have no problem with people driving. I do have a problem with people driving when they are drunk. It's not anti-freedom. It's because drunk drivers kill innocent people.

Well if you are drunk then you may burp into the device and you get what's coming to you.
I agree that they are not accurate, but really, I am sure that if you get a high reading you are DUI in Japan. Vapors from the stomach indicate that you will get more inebriated when that alcohol enters the blood. Maybe the alcohol content in your blood is different, but hey, it's still there.

Actually stomach vapors don't get measured. It's the alcohol getting purged from the lungs that gets measured. I agree, they aren't very accurate. In many countries a reading over a certain amount means that a blood test can be taken upon consent. If the consent isn't given, then the reading is used.
Having said that, Japan has a zero tolerance policy, so a high reading is almost guaranteed to be DUI.

It will be a whole new energy source. Something that we are not even looking at right now, or just in the early stages of researching. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I'm always amazed at how large the suitcases are that are used by Japanese travelers. My guess is that they tend only to travel for a week, why do they need so much luggage?

Bad assumption. Actually they sell Japanese only and foreign language versions (for a higher price). I heard that the reason that they separate the models is that it causes confusion in Japan. If a local buyer accidentally switches his camera to German and he can't switch it back so he has to call the support line. I don't know if it's true, but it sounds rather lame.

Not for me. It's lighter for a start and I'm short sighted. I have the font size on the iPhone on the lowest setting and can read it perfectly. A simple tap from my thumb and I change the page. I tell you it's much easier than a real book.

I need an eWriter! Last two posts mistakes: Kindle (not Knidle) and Economical (not ecomical). Sorry...

I'll wager that opening a Kindle to the current page is quicker than a real book (especially my iPhone Kindle).
The web browser in the Kindle is not great at all, and yes, you need to use WiFi. An iPad is a much better option for this.

I forgot to mention I have an iPad, but I find it too heavy as a book reader. Also, another advantage of most eReaders: A built-in dictionary.
