iphone may look cool and work fine for English users, but it is too cumbersome for people who type in Japanese.

What a load of rubbish; the iPhone is great for Japanese users. I type Japanese on mine all the time. However the opposite is true. Typing English on Japanese cellphones is a real pain. My Japanese friend wants to get an iPhone because she is typing a lot more in English these days.

Would have to say Apple on this one.

Virgin Atlantic, Air New Zealand, Cathay, Singapore Airlines, ANA are all good. I don't like most American airlines.

I agree with most people here and be yourself and things will happen. But for shy people, I think friend of a friend is best. Me? I like meeting people in bars. Sounds cliched but it's often worked for me. But I don't like Roppongi. It targets the wrong types.

tkoind your 2nd and 3rd paragraph,to me,sounds exactly what the 'working team ' is endeavouring to do.

Yes the goal is the same, but they're going the wrong way about it. tkoind2 is right. Force companies to comply to give their workers time off because they are so self interested and won't do it without rules to force them.

Well said. I was going to post something about this, but you've already said it. My girlfriend who had a basic job at a securities company wanted to take two weeks off last year. The request went up the management chain and came down again. No. It would set a precedent. So she quit.

But basically that's the stand you can get 20 days a year leave, but you can't use it to good use.

Pathetic, this work ethic. How about a life ethic!

What if this man had been a westerner where hugs are also used to show plutonic affection, wouldn't the arrests and legal commotion just be another show of Japanese instituions being behind the times? (insentive to western customs)

I thought that initially, but I think it would be more than a quick hug. Maybe he held her in an embrace. You don't say "She was my type of woman" after just hugging somebody.

Narita isn't bad, but pretty average I would say. Changi is my favorite. It has great shopping, good restaurants, a gym and a transit hotel. Can't get much better than that for convenience!

They said that the women sometimes do enjoy these surprising encounters. Some of them enjoy it and when they get off the train, after the incident do not look at the groper and pretend that it did not happen.

It may be that they are too embarrassed to confront the situation. How can you say it's the woman's problem! Jeez, it is inappropriate to make sexual advances on the train. There is no proper way to react to it for a start.

And maybe they do enjoy it. When I was younger, a girl molested me on a train and I enjoyed it. However, it is not appropriate behavior. And maybe just because you have no choice to get out of the way.

I'm sure that many Japanese would be interested to see this film. I mean, I would guess that the average man in the street doesn't know about and doesn't support the slaughter of dolphins.

Posted in: This movie targets Japan and is viewed by many people in many countries. It's very strange that it has not been shown in Japan.

I have absolutely no idea why foreign aid comes into this discussion except that taxes pay for it. It's a drop in the ocean and would have no consequence. More you should complain about the domestic aid of the 90's where they built bridges to nowhere and kept the construction/yaks in business while wasting your taxes.

This is a trend that is worldwide. Baby Boomers have made their money in times of high inflation and the younger generation won't be so lucky. In any case, if these kids have any pride in themselves they will stand on their own two feet and find a way to sort out their own lives.

Look at it this way: it's never going to be healthy subjecting your head to electromagnetic radiation. If it can be avoided, avoid it. Same goes with wireless networks at home and in schools. Those things pump out a lot more than mobiles do. So much so that a growing number of UK schools are changing back to cable.

And how do you arrive at such a conclusion? Mate, you live in constant EM radiation and most of it isn't man made. If I were you I'd stay in the dark.

On a similar note, I read a recent report on a BBC news site that cellphone radiation helps combat Alzheimer's.

You created the life, you are responsible for his/her survival forever.

No way! As soon as they leave home, they are responsible for their own life. And if they fall on hard times, then so be it.

Maybe the government needs a better safety net. I know that they have Hello Work program, but that money doesn't last forever. At the same time, these kids would probably abuse a safety net. They're already willing to live off of their mother's meager wage.

Really, it's the boss's fault for not leading with authority. You need to make clear that phone answering is one of your duties and by doing so, you will learn how to react to clients and learn the business as well. It's menial, but it's training on the job and don't forget the boss did it when he first joined.

This could mean the end of dirty old men chasing 'French Maids' on the streets.

Ha ha. Funny. Dirty old men don't visit maid shops. It's young geeky losers that have no confidence/life that go to maid shops.

As long as Okinawans do not want it, Japan would have to change something better. The US can not do this forever because it did it for more than 50 years. The time has changed.

What's changed? Why can't they do this forever? What reasoning are you basing this on?

It is simple, if Japan doesn't want the US military in Japan then the US military should leave.

Naivety at it's best. Japan doesn't care, it's Okinawa that doesn't want the base. In any case, Japan wants US military support, but the Okinawan people don't want the base on their land. Unfortunately, they have no choice. They can vote as much as they want. It won't change anything.

Really, the problem is all Hatoyama's and it's all his own fault. He shouldn't have promised what he can't deliver.OF course nobody wants the base at Futema, but the power is all in the US's hands because if no deal is agreed upon, guess what, the noisy base stays where it is.

Of course not. They are only "permanent foreign residents" because the citizen residents decided they could be. Only true citizens of a country should have the rights to make the laws and elect officals.

Where do you get that logic from? A permanent resident is part of the society that they live in. Usually in Japan that means that they have been here for at least 10 years. Why shouldn't they have the vote? In my home country, PR's have the vote.
