"Sugeno said his team has requested that questioning by police – which lasts 6 to 8 hours every day - be fully recorded on both video and audio. "
I agree that's what they should do, but why should he get preferential treatment over everybody else. They should have a law that enforces this.

Man, this is out of "Natural Born Killers". Prophecy or what! There is a scene where they interview Japanese kids about the serial killers: "They so cool!" is the response. What kind of society do we live in.

Michelin is good for finding good restaurants at the top end of the price range. I don't agree that they judge on good wine; look at the Tokyo guide and many picks serve Nihonshu. Other posters here like Hot Pepper. Ha! I say. Pure advertising and no editorial. Well if that's the case, why not just walk down the street.

Apart from the fact that I can't understand the fascination with young girls panties, the guy must be a complete moron to steal them all. Why didn't he just steal one? Anyway I have no sympathy for this complete pervert using his authority in this way.

It isn't really relevant who is older or younger and this is probably just a bad translation. In Japanese, even with twins you make a distinction who is younger. Because the don't have a word for same aged sister (or brother). And this is just a direct translation.

Ha ha, I definitely don't want to get in a fight about skin color! Preferences aren't based on fact, reason or anything like that. I may be wrong, but my impression is that many Japaense girls want whiter skin. But there was a fashion a few years ago where many young girls went to tanning salons to get a bronze tan and then they donned ash color make-up. It is what it is.
I do think you are being a bit hard on the Japanese people. I don't think they are in a collective stupor and I really don't think they are adopting American values.

True: black skin ages better than white skin. White people need to hide from the sun. You may dance around the subject as much as you all want to but the facts are pointing to one thing: most Japanese women wish their skin was lighter in color, not darker.

I think that good skin has more to do with genetics and staying out of the sun/elements. I eat all sorts of rubbish but my skin is good (not that I'm bothered). Also I yet to see any evidence that collagen is good for your skin. It seems to be the accepted wisdom, but I don't follow that. I need facts.

Well it is true that almost all Japanese I meet thinks that Japanese rice is the best in the world. Years of govt. propaganda seem to have worked. I would like to see a double blind taste test. I would guarantee that they can't tell the difference.
However, say the demand doesn't fall (Japanese like their own rice) but the number of farmers/farms does (the kids don't want to be farmers), then all that will happen is that the price will go up. It already is way too high. My suggestion? Import rice and save money.

I don't think these girls would last one day on a rice farm. I get annoyed when these organisations promote Japanese farms and rice. The Japanese rice farm will soon be extinct because the kids don't want to work on a farm. And that won't be a bad thing, cheaper rice is available from other countries. And before someone brings up food self-sufficiency; Japan isn't and will never be 100% sef sufficient. So why bother with anything less. Unless they embark on another war of aggression, food will always be available form outside.

Disillusioned
Those are both English expressions; nothing to do with Japan. And I think you meant Kawaii (unless that was a joke).
I think I agree with the posters that hate "My bad". Irritating. I also hate the way English people say "I was sat on my sofa" instead of "I was sitting on my sofa".
But I think the worst hate is "can you revert back to me" type of phrase. How can a word be so corrupted.

Iran weren't forced into the treaty, but seem to be breaking their promise.
Oh come on. They were caught out with a secret nuclear plant. That's a violation of the treaty.
Israel is not.
So you believe in countries telling other countries what to do (the US telling Israel)? I don't.
