Why keep a hi-cap semiauto(assault weapon)? Why keep a handgun? Answer: Guns and the will to use them are the best tools to insure freedom from tyrants and hitlers. This is the heart of the 2nd amendment. A Gun all by itself does not cause someone to pick it up and kill. The link between guns and crime is fictitious. The Swiss have easy access to assault rifles and they have virtually no gun crime.

My point exactly. Why should they have been forced to assimilate into our society in the first place? Their land and way of life was stolen. This is what the apology was all about.
The Native American has lived in North America at least 13,000 years, perhaps longer. Americans, only 250 some years. You don't even know American history well enough to take such swipes at knowledge. The myth is is your own mind. What you seem to be suggesting is nonsensical.

That was not in anyone's memory. Today, native peoples on reservations across America are struggling to reclaim their culture and language. They were slaughtered wholesale. Their way of life shattered. A noble and honorable people were disgraced, humiliated and treated like dogs. What we could have learned from them has been lost forever.
How do you know they are unrelated? If an apology helps heal the scars left on generations of native people by a calculated genocide, how can you say these people are idiots? A little more awareness before you assail history.
