Agree with Mark McCracken except I would elaborate but still in general: Asian, then European(except BA), then American airlines last choice.

Just today hearing the excuse of car malfunction for the reason of some old chap in america for driving into a bank. Car malfunctions seems to be the new excuse for poor driving/human malfunction, but as in this case not strictly proven. Anyway all of this aside The "Japanese" cars still seem to be topping all the car polls.

"I can cite The UK, America and Canada as places where you can talk on your cell on a train, and there isn't some impenetrable din of noise as a result."
I cite those places where there IS a din of noise because of selfish use of cell phones or ipods with their cheap selfish headphones...or just selfish loud behaviour in general. I find Japanese transport much more pleasant and are happy that some people do get angry about others poor behaviour other wise its a slippery slope. I'm glad in that respect they are not too influenced by those types of foreign views that support selfish behaviour just because its ok for them.

bassfunk as the article suggests you are telling us more about yourself than Japanese music, or even other media such as tv; which does well enough in Japan and there is quite a market for outside Japan.
Reminds me the old fuds complaining about dance music ( which by comparison is also popular - but popular doesn't mean universal)

It would be good to see a happy outcome and future from all this. So hopefully "honor" can lead to that.

"Pretty safe bet there are Asian females on most of these train lines, Einstein."
...well depends if thats the American or British English definition of an Asian. Its not only some Japanese that don't see them self as Asian..the British make it official from the BBC to ethnic classifications
