mikehuntez, Maybe he thought you were one of those who claims Canada when they don't like the U.S. President. You certainly seem to be quite concerned yourself with the goings on of a country that isn't yours too... pot and kettle? I hope you aren't forgetting about the second half of what they say about "assume".
In any case this will mean more jobs, as there will be a need for people to man the stations and trains, maintain the railways, etc. That's what we so desperately need, MORE JOBS.

I sincerely hope that none of the posters who are skittish about helping a woman get rid of a perv are the same people who were cheering that old guy for getting riled up about phone manners on the train. One's definitely illegal, while the other is NOT. Funny thing is, I bet if that old guy saw some woman getting groped, he'd pretend to be asleep. BTW, you don't have to lay a finger on the pervert to help. all you have to do is yell, Oi! Achira chikan desu yo! at the top of your lungs while pointing at the offender. What if he actually IS the boyfriend? That's the beauty of it, even if she actually wants it, it's still illegal. Public indecency and all. That way there's no touching and you're far less likely to get charged with assault. Have a video phone? Even better. Record them as you yell your accusation. If he gets violent, there will be irrefutable proof that he was the aggressor. The police will likely confiscate your phone, but that's a small price to pay for freedom.

Again, many countries have no such manner rule about cell phones, and there isn't chaos as a result. Old guy can't control himself from assaulting another man, causes a fight that delays 70000 and he's a hero?! BTW for those of you who don't seem to understand, grabbing another man's arm as the article states, is STILL assault. So it doesn't really matter if you don't believe soreleftarm.

@soreleftarm: thank you for sharing with us what truly happened and I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm even sorrier that there are those who post here that think you somehow deserved being attacked by what is nothing more than a bully. Call it Nihonjinron all you want, but the fact remains that because no one helped this man who was being assaulted by a man who by all rights was disturbing passengers more than the supposed violator (and thus showing no manners himself) is tantamount to tacit approval. The old man was probably emboldened by the fact that no one was calling him on his own bad behavior, probably thinking that everyone agreed with him, only making it worse. I hate it when people take it upon themselves to be some random person's parent. They need to be swiftly put in their place.

@miamum, Sorry I just wanted to be clear. It seemed like you were disparaging this man for objecting to being (what is both legally and literally) assaulted. It also seemed like you were suggesting that because this is a courtesy guideline, violators are subject to being assaulted by the offended and if you don't like it, tough cookies. If I was mistaken I apologize. I DO see however that a few posters on here do in fact feel that way and I will counter with mind your own business. Korea is NOT an acceptable example of the chaos that will reign if people were allowed to speak on their cell phones on the trains. I can cite The UK, America and Canada as places where you can talk on your cell on a train, and there isn't some impenetrable din of noise as a result. I rarely heard people yelling on trains, and when they were, it wasn't on a cell phone.

The point is that there are bad elements of all religions. That doesn't mean that EVERYONE in the religion ascribes to those bad elements. What do you think will happen if they build the mosque anyway? What would be the problem there at ground zero that wouldn't be present elsewhere?

tmarie, Without knowing anything about the exact details, you pin most of the blame on Mona. Proof that a woman's worst enemy is another woman. What if she were seduced by these men? It wouldn't be the first time a man has lied to a woman for sex. "My wife and I are looking to separate," or "We don't have a real marriage," or the like. What's she supposed to do? Call and confirm? It's possible she was lied to- I mean at the very least we know for a fact that the men were lairs: they had to lie to their wives about the affair till caught. Who's to say they weren't lying to Mona too? I would hate to be the victim of someone's lies and then have everyone hate me because I was naive enough to believe them. I would just back off of the hatred. Without all the details, we don't know it could be all unjustified.

Usually the state will fund medical procedures if the patient cannot afford to, through insurance and/or personal finances. I assume this is the case, as I'm certain the Canadian gov't wouldn't fund any of Celine Dion's procedures no matter how vital, because she can afford it herself. That means those seeking a state funded abortion can't afford to pay for it themselves. Say what you will about the morality of it, the reality is this: If you can't afford an abortion you certainly can't afford the child. Why should any child grow up in poverty and suffer the harsh and often short life of the impoverished simply to satisfy someone else's moral superiority?

YuriOtani- The problem is NOT his prayer. It is his speaking in a language that the officers in charge of him don't understand. He simply refuses to pray in English. The officers have a duty to make sure he isn't attempting to co-ordinate anything else with outside folk, thus the requirement he speak English. Yes, they should have a translator available to be certain. Though, my experience has been that certified translators of Arabic are few in the States and there are dozens of dialects and finding an available translator of the right dialect at the time he wishes to pray may be impossible. As to finding the translator later to listen to the tapes, it might be too late later. You have to admit, they really shouldn't trust him at his word that it's just harmless prayer. They trusted him before and he betrayed that trust. They can't be sure he won't try something else given the chance.

Thus acknowledging that Bush started the wars, sending our boys and girls over there to possibly die. Then you say: "This nutcase, won the Nobel peace prize, yet he has turned a pacified Iraq into one bordering on civil war and Afghanistan is turning into a graveyard for allied troops."
Seemingly forgeting that you yourself claim Bush responsible for starting the conflicts. Surely the man who put the troops there in the first place bears some responsibility? Let's be realistic here. If Obama completely and immediately pulled out of what you describe as "a graveyard for allied troops", you'd complain about that too. Weren't you one of those jumping on Obama "dithering" on Afganistan? So he orders reenforcements there, and you don't like that either.
Then you say: "with my morals i will not lower myself to nmae calling, as it is wrong."
Forgetting you in your previous post, called Obama a "nutcase". Then in the SAME post proceed to call liberals "lilly livered". You seem to be very inconsistant.

Wow. I think I just stepped into bizarro world... I'm actually agreeing with Sarge and the right wingers. I don't think Saddam should have been removed the way he was, but I thought he should have been removed. He was a despot, not unlike Kim Jong Il. His sons were poised to take over and all indicators pointed to them being worse than their father. Maybe a non-violent movement would have garnered international sympathy, but with Saddam in control of the media, no one would hear about it. The way Bush went into Iraq was preemptive, and I can't support that for the same reason I can't support police arresting someone because they may or may not commit a crime someday. War is the last resort, but it is a resort. As President, Obama swore an oath to protect the people of his country. He would be remiss in that oath should he allow enemy forces to take American lives without resistance for the sake of a non-violent approach to peace. Martin Luther King would tell his followers that if they feared for their lives too much to march, he wouldn't blame them if they left the movement. Obama can't tell Americans to leave America. He doesn't have the luxury to be completely non-violent, as he has to protect even those that did not vote for him. It is an unenviable position, but that's why the weight of the crown is so heavy.

How simplistic to think that just because they might not be directly getting money, there is nothing to gain. Apparently it doesn't occur to you that these people may just want attention. You still haven't addressed my question as to what significance bulletproof glass could be when dealing with tons of falling building. Nor have you yourself provided any reason why a professional demo crew would be set up so close to ground zero. None of it makes any sense.

"Traumatic asphyxiation"... Well, "trauma" in medical terms when referring to the cause of death can mean something was broken, rent, or brused. It makes me think he crushed her windpipe. Horrible thing to have happened to her. Sounds like he thought it through too, sending her a text message to meet just before, and the sealing of the body in the wall so as to not be seen disposing of her body. He's looking at life in prison for 1st degree murder at least.

Because your scenario is full of holes. The biggest verifiable one is your claim to building #7 being a command post. You say bulletproof glass was installed in the building before the attack. Certainly this has nothing at all to do with the well documented near hurricane force winds that passed through the towers due to their height and size. You imply that it was installed to protect the command post, because everyone knows bulletproof glass can stop a falling building. A professional demo team would NOT setup so close to an implosion in case they miscalculated and the building didn't fall straight down. Again, a large part of one of the towers FELL ON building #7, killing your theory. As for those with the "balls" to come forward, surely they couldn't possibly be lying to get their names in the paper. Who would do such a thing, lie about such a tragedy for personal gain?

SuperLib - fantastic post. For people who seem to enjoy speculating, one wonders why it escapes them to try and play the devil's advocate and attempt to poke holes in thier own theories to test thier plausibility. One would think the holes are obvious. They admit to not being engineers, then in the same breath claim to be experts on how buildings fall. They cite other building collapses throughout history, conveniently ignoring the fact that neither before nor since has this exact situation been duplicated. True men and women of science will admit to the myriad of things that there are no explaination for, yet these untrained laymen know better. The Tower's "freefall" was outlined in the magazine Popular Science and btw is far more plausible than a secret command center in building #7. Quick question. If in fact building #7 was the command post, why would they have picked such a close building from which point inside the building the plane strikes could not be seen? On top of that had there been an error in judgement, debris from the towers could have fallen on the building (it did BTW) injuring the command crew? Proffessionals would not make that mistake.
