I forgot to mention that I also use it heavily on the train for my hour ride to work / home. It has some great sketching tools(Adobe Ideas) that I can use to draw out ideas or even just doodle (without wasting paper), I can write in my diary, and I can also put down other ideas whether their song lyrics, an excel file, power point, or synth lines. All of this on that little guy you are hating on so much. Plus when I use it on the train I'm not jabbing my elbows into my fellow passengers like the tools with their laptops.

well, I use my iPad at work. It keeps me from having to lug a heavy laptop everyday. While I do agree that there are a lot of people that just buy every new model, there are as many if not more people that buy one and get their full use out of it before upgrading. I had an apple laptop I bought it 2007 and bought a new one last year. Same thing with my phone. Had it for 2 almost 3 years and then upgraded to the 4s last year. I won't get the 5 when it comes out this year. Although I'd like to have the more powerful iPad 3 with the retina display it's highly unlikely I'll get it unless I can sell my 2. What I don't understand is why people have such a problem with people buying things that make them happy. Silly to them or not. Everyone has their hobby or thing that they're into. Stop spreading misery and go find your thing and MOVE ON.

Maybe it's because the commercials are freaking lame. Serious how can you have Arashi in the same commercial with a song being sung by Sid Vicious. Yeah they are "so punk." Arashi is not as popular as they and other people think they are. I don't hate the guys but them in a commercial =/= instants bucks......
I enjoy the White family and Docomo commercials a lot. I'm not a fan of Docomo but you got to admit that everyone would want Ken Watanabe as their keitai.

Being a huge Apple fan and an iPad owner, I have to say the HP looks pretty good. My co-worker has one and it had some neat little features. I asked him what he thought about it and he said he quite enjoys it. It's a shame they are discontinuing them. It seems like a good alternative if you don't want to shell out for the pricey iPad.

awww the Apple bashers are out in force! The funny thing about people who trash the iPhone saying that other phones have superior technology is that the iOS is one of the smoothest if not THE smoothest to use. One of my friends has an Experia and it has piles upon piles of menus and Android keeps resetting itself about every hour. The latency and jerkiness of scrolling is pure garbage. This goes the same for tablets too. One of the reasons my friends and I bought an iPad is the latency (or lack of). For the average Joe this doesn't matter but I use mine to control music programs. I agree that a lot of these devices that use Android are quite capable. But they are so clunky to use. the iPhone and iPad work so well because the software is made for the hardware. Android keeps dropping the ball because it's one OS trying to fit in all kinds of different devices.

Never had any problem with SoftBank's signal strength or SoftBank at all for that matter.....until now. Been 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten my phone.
The signal is so good here in Osaka that I'm using my 3GS' Internet as a wifi spot for my iPad (in which I'm using to write this message).

It's not their fault you have to have multiple accounts, it's all about licensing. TV shows, music, and movies all have different companies that they are licensed to in foreign countries so Apple and Softbank have to go though each one of these companies. That's why if you look at the content in the USA or UK iTunes there are tons more movies and there aren't ANY TV shows in the Japanese iTunes.
There's a really easy solution though, Just send your family back home money and have them send you itunes cards and you can keep one account(and have more to choose from).

OMG I HATE TAXI DRIVERS IN JAPAN! I have met only a few that weren't tools. I live in Osaka and those guys have ZERO respect for anyone on the road. If you drive in the middle of Umeda at night during Friday and Saturday, any 4 lane road has taxis taking up 2 of the lanes and sometimes an idiot poking out in a 3rd lane. I places like Tokyo I can semi-understand taxi drivers needing some help navigating but in my little tiny town(outside of Osaka)? There is a whole fleet parked at this "local" train station and I have to tell them the general direction we are going (an elementary school) then give precise directions from there. I mean come on you don't know the address system in a tiny little town????
The only good taxi service I've received was traveling with my wife's father who has some friends in the taxi biz.

Just like in every country you have to dig for good music. There are lots of dope musicians running around in Japan. As far as J-pop that you see on TV and here on the radio it's no more packaged and churned out than anything from the west. I studied music for many many years have been in tons of bands and worked with lots of fantastic musicians. From all of my experience I've learned to appreciate many types of music. There is a lot of work that goes into all types. Talent is very subjective. If you are talking about technique and the ability to play an instrument there are tons of musicians in J-pop that are masters of their craft. Just because it's packaged and sold like a Happy Meal doesn't change that fact. That might rub you the wrong way but that's the way it is. Technicality has never been important in music anyway. Look at 80's hair metal. When Nirvana came along with those 3 chord songs they devastated! The same thing could be said about the punk movement.
If you're talking about originality you have to be kidding me. There hasn't been an original music act this century. These days music is just the bastardization of several genres. Dubstep is the big thing in electronic music right now and it's the bastard child of many other electronic genres.
People are so into talking poop about others music views that people forget why we listen to music. Because. We. Like. It. Everyone has a guilty pleasure whether it's listening to Perfume / AKB48 or going to Uniqlo / IKEA / McDonald's. It's all packaged and dressed up to make us buy it. If you don't like it than do something 'bout it sheesh.
