..wats with this bladed jargon Japanese has a word "hamono," which is a generic word for any tool or weapon with a blade. If they don't know what kind of weapon was used, they just say "hamono." I don't know of any English equivalent.

Extremists of every hue should be encouraged to spout their nonsense in the full glare of TV studio lights. They need to be out in the open where we can keep an eye on them.

By trying to suppress free and democratic discussion, the yahoos who broke into the BBC studio actually gave undeserved credibility to Nick Griffin.

At one restaurant I went to they had whale listed on the menu as "scientific sushi." I've yet to hear anti-whaling groups explain lucidly why it's ok to kill terrestrial mammals but not marine mammals. What's the difference? Four legs bad, no legs good?

Moderator: Readers, once again we remind you that comparisons to cattle, chickens, etc are, of course, irrelevant to this discussion. The subject is Japan's research whaling.

Do these people even consider how the children feel about being used as pawns in this parental war? I'm amazed at their arrogance. They make a chaos of their own lives and then expect the judicial, law enforcement, immigration and political systems in two countries to protect their so-called parental rights. Kids have rights. Parents have duties. Here's some advice to those considering an "international" marriage. Have a long courtship. Talk about which country you're going to live in, what language the children will be brought up in, and any other cultural issues. After marriage, live together for a few years without children. If it doesn't work you can just walk away. Above all, don't have children as a way of fixing a broken marriage. Once you have children, be prepared to serve 16 years to life, regardless of your feelings for your spouse. And start and end every argument with the question, "How will this affect the kids?"

More evidence that in every country, the people in charge of immigration laws and administration are the most heartless, mindless and notoriously corrupt creeps. While thousands of people are trafficked and traded under their noses every day, these lice would rather waste time and money dragging this poor woman and her child through the courts.

The losers who commit these crimes should be the ones standing in stations handing out fliers. As an example to other potential losers, they should wear placards round their necks saying what they did and what the consequences were (traumatized victim, jail time, lost jobs, broken families, etc.) This is a shameful crime, and shame should be part of the punishment and deterrent.

Random, unpredictable violence is not uncommon among people in this age group. He's probably suffering from some form of dementia.

I've never understood why this cowardly, dishonest mound of corruption was hero-worshipped by the left. What he did at Chappaquiddick should have branded him for life.

The arrogance of these self-absorbed graffiti vandals is unbelievable. They creep around in the dark painting subhuman daubs on other people's property and then try to justify their furtive scribbling as art. Pathetic.

The Sapio writers missed an item off their "dark side" list: tabloid hacks trying to boost their circulation by fabricating nonsense stories that pander to fear and pessimism.

Perhaps if airlines and airports could improve their baggage handling systems, people might feel more confident to check in fragile and valuable items. I usually fly Air New Zealand, and while they've never lost a bag of mine, I've got a growing collection of damaged luggage, including a large Samsonite with a hole punched right through it. And I've never been asked to show my baggage tags when claiming bags, except on the Narita Limousine Bus service.

Cold-blooded murderers like al-Megrahi don't deserve compassion. They should stay in jail until their victims stop being dead.

"Obstructing police in the performance of their duty" might be a better translation than "interfering with police in the line of their duty."

I've been using this service regularly for many years. It's easy and cheap to transfer funds into and out of my currency online account from banks anywhere but in Japan. To transfer funds from my Japanese bank account into my currency online account, I first have to transfer money from my brain-dead dinosaur bank in Japan into a New Zealand bank, and then into Currency Online.

The Japanese medical and political establishment should also start accepting that's its insane and obscene to ban transplants for children under 15.
