PR is a status, there is no 7 year renew period, only renewal of the card... it has nothing to do with status.
The PR status will only lapse if you commited a crime warranting its removal or left Japan for over few years letting it lapse, in which case if you rich enough to still hold assets - those will be taxed...

Good, less they speak English, the more positions will be available for the foreign highly educated folks...

Exactly, this would only apply to someone actually exiting Japan and letting the PR go, or married wealthy couples.

she probably figured she wasnt getting enough back, the guys managing her were too greedy.
That said, unless she was somehow forced to it ( unlikely because she was indeed getting payed ) i have hard time seeing her as victim of anyone but herself, 14 aint underage - people know exactly what are they doing at that age.

Tokyo has always been more international, I definitely see a big rise in foreign population building up to the Olympics ( short term folks - 10 years or less ) and then drop again after everyone made their cash.
Tokyo is already pretty international really, my only issue is that I do expect the Chinese or other south asian guys that work in convenis to atleast master some level of Japanese or English .. but that is really up to their bosses... and maybe just my expectations and I should simply start learning Mandarin

Absolutely agree, I commute daily by road bike and I really dont understand why not charge any red runner or illegal / blinker parking thru the nose, 100k plus jail time for endangering lives .
Its everybodys win, government and police will be happy, commuters will be happy and well car owners.. having a car means to pay for legal parking.. so suck it up.

These comments are quite strange... at least in Tokyo majority of taxi drivers has no clue where they are going without gps and lots of them cant even use that properly ( or do it maliciously ) , they are often rude too.
I had stellar experience with uber everytime in here and in uk , you both know the route and how much it will cost ,cars are way nicer and i dont even need to open my wallet or have it with me at all.

One way to crack down on this ,would be great to have a service where citizens can send details of cars running lights or illegally parking with photo evidence.
today, with all the technology it could be great.
Alex EinzMar. 04, 2015 - 05:53PM JST
the more Taxi companies feel threatened, the better it is for the commuter , they have been having too comfy life.
Alex EinzMar. 04, 2015 - 04:16PM JST
Uber seem allright in Tokyo, I wish they had more cars but you can call taxies too with them.
They are definitely more polite than taxies

Very logical and reasonable, those aid organisations very often are involved in that sort of behaviour and its only logical measure, there is nothing racist about it.
