It's like mccain and the repubs actually believe all that old fashioned "Country First" hokum.

Like bush (who he voted with, 99.9 percent of the time! GOTCHA!) mccain apparently thinks senators and presidents can, with their words, spark economic panic.
Arent they quaint, with their False Consciousness and their blindness to the inevitability of the diktatorship of the Proletariat?

I refuse to believe any of this. The joy and pride I felt back in 1999 is still too strong to let repub values like 'rationality' spoil the memory. I can still taste the decaf latte I was drinking that day as I perused the The NY Times, because it fused with the tears I wept as I read this:
"In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders."

"Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Tonga, Turkey and the United Kingdom."
Whatever.

I think I speak for every American Idol fan and most progressives when I say that mccain has no right - Barack's oratory is far more important than budgets, bailouts, looming recessions and even a depression.

Can we get any coverage of Ahmadinejhad's speech at the UN ? Apparently it went down big. He believes we are in the final days. And he again says Israel is finished and - bonus for those of us on teh Left! - the american empire is in collapse. As a devout secularist I find his (and any) religion abhorrent but us progressives need the rage that Muslims bring into the mix.
peace.

Luckily, the FBI are all a bunch of repubs for whom the NY Times is considered even less worthy birdcage liner than something from the old Pravda press.
NY Times, September 30, 1999:
" In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980’s.
”From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,” said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ”If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.”

What's to investigate? Why don't they trust liberals?
Barney Frank (D-MA), 2003 : "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

All good points, zurcronium. Like you, I had given little though to palin's international impact.
Her meeting with world leaders is indeed problematic.
Like thatcher her rise threatens the whole victimhood mentality that is so vital to us progressives getting the agenda* in place.
But I am confident that we can destroy her like we did Hillary.
We need to do it for women everywhere - not just in north america.

Congress would do well to heed the sage, historically indisputable words of wisdom that Barack's VP Joe 'Sock Em' Biden told Katie Couric yesterday:
"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"
Unlike palin this is someone who inspires confidence.

Barack has said He will meet unconditionally with any leader - including progressives like Fidel Castro, Mahmmoud Ahmadhinejhad,Assad and Kim johng il.
Little ms palin won't even meet with the progressives in our own media corps.
Moderator: Readers, there is no need to refer to Obama by first name.

Talk about a loose cannon:
"Syria and Iran continue to sponsor terror, yet their numbers are growing fewer. They are becoming more isolated in the world.Like slavery and piracy, terrorism has no place in the modern world."
Whats next? Is bush going to ask the 57 nations of the The Organisation of the Islamic Conference why not one of them ever approved the UN's Declaration of Universal Human Rights?
