Has anyone heard what mccain's rock star running mate has to say about this economic crisis?

Ugly rumor is they gonna use her to attack like we will use Joe 'Sock Em' Biden. Apparently she wants to go after Charlie Rangel publicly. She thinks that just because he accepted donations of 10 million dollars from AIG just last year she thinks he is now fair game. But everybody knows she is only attacking him because like Barack Obama, Charlie is black.

Real smart. Good luck with that , hockey mom.

Charlie is only like the third most powerful guy in our Democratic contolled Congress.

It's almost sad watching Barack mock fuddy old mccain, who can't get the message out beyond faux news and limbaugh.

What I've read recently is that polls suggest that Americans tend to trust Democrats more than Republicans when it comes to the economy.

Really got to hand it to Barack, eh comrade. He has completely won over the fourth estate.

How times have changed! The New York Times was once firmly in the grip of the big multinational corporations. Those days are gone.

As recently as 2003 they still published articles like this - - -

"September 11, 2003 New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae By STEPHEN LABATON The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

"Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry."

Luckily, Barney Frank and our reps in Congress shot that one down.

mccain (voted with bush 95 percent of the time) wants, but can't get the message out. Drowned out by all the reporters Barack has won over.

    Too funny!

Props to this 20 y.o. kid.

He succeeded where the 30 lawyers and dozens of reporters Barack dispatched to Alaska to dig up dirt on palin had failed. Apart from Maureen Dowd's bombshell revelation that palin has the unmitigated gall to wear shoes designed for younger women they had ALL failed.

This kid has a bright future in our party.

The real victims here are the people of Alaska.

That was my first thought when I saw the photos of her kids that the brave young Democrat "hacker" posted.

    Impeachment!

Its a shame mccain doesnt know how to use email.

Imagine what we could have gotten on him!

Russia just closed down its stock market. Putin's cred as a true progressive just grows and grows.

Too bad we'll have to wait til next January before Barack can do the same to our out of control neoliberal nightmare of free markets and the whole 'pursuit of happiness' thing.

I wonder if he qualifies for retroactive telecom immunity.

I likes the way you think. Can I call you Huey,

    Mr Long?

Technically, the 20 y.o. college boy in question is not with the government.

But his father IS a Democratic state representative in Tennessee...

Nope... I don't care at all if she had personal and none business stuff in a private account (regardless of which side she swings), it's that the PRIVATE account was being used on the public dime, etc.*

Again, I'm worried that the haters here can't follow your nuanced logic.

The article points out that palin had a Yahoo account. I still don't quite understand how you conclude that her account was "being used on the public dime."

As a progressive I like to believe - I NEED to believe! - that we are all international citizens at heart, and I would never hold your nationailty against you or cite it as reason for your appearing completely clueless about something as embarrassingly easy to understand as america's primitive civil and governmental institutions and its essentially rigged "democracy" but perhaps you are not as au fait with the american vernacular as you like to imagine yourself to be.

At least, I HOPE that is the explanation for the potentially embarrassing holes which your argument appears to have.

Otherwise, I am forced to say that you are letting our side down, comrade!

Do you mean to say you have proof she used state funds to set up a 20 dollar account (or whatever the amount at Yahoo is) in order to have more memory than comes with the free version of their email service?

btw - What does that very loaded "**etc.***" at the end of your assertion stand for?

Why do you torment us like this?

If you have dirt on palin by all means bring it!

Bloomberg is reporting that Congress, following Harry Reid's sage advice, is going to let bush struggle with the problems that our economy faces. Haahahahahaaa.Too funny!

The Democratic-controlled Congress, acknowledging that it isn't equipped to lead the way to a solution for the financial crisis and can't agree on a path to follow, is likely to just get out of the way.

Lawmakers say they are unlikely to take action before, or to delay, their planned adjournments -- Sept. 26 for the House of Representatives, a week later for the Senate. While they haven't ruled out returning after the Nov. 4 elections, they would rather wait until next year unless Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, who are leading efforts to contain the crisis, call for help.

One reason, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday, is that ``no one knows what to do'' at the moment.

I'll admit it's pretty low, but it DID show that she's abusing even EMAIL privelages... it's just too bad they didn't get more dirt for their effort. I mean, if they're going to hack into and publicize the contents of private messages of a person with a lot of power and resources to abuse it, they may as well try to make it worthwhile.

Your legal acumen is legendary on these boards so please bear with me here.

Along with the "hacker" and the AP you conclude there is no official business hidden in palin's emails. (pics of her family - who cares? They are repubs...)

This follows what appears to be your assertion that if palin hadn't illegally used private emails to hide state communications, the crime wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Can you clarify your position, as Barack would say. I'm worried that you may have spoken less than artfully (as Barack would say) and are going to be the target of some reflexive, reactionary fox news talking points dressed up as 'logical arguments' from the haters on the right.

Let me say first of all that as a progressive I am ALL about respect for privacy. And then let me explain something:

They had to go after palin.

mccain doesnt know how to use email...

Whats the point though. This is the kind of nuanced argument repubs will never understand.

I dont understand their sense of humor. Are they mocking bush's handling of the economy or do they dare suggest that the Democrats must share blame?

Of course I am TOTALLY opposed to ANY invasions of privacy and I must admit there is more than a little embarrassing irony in all this, seeing as how this is exactly what we in the reality based progressive community have been saying bush and his cronies routinely and casually resort to, but I am heartened by the news that the hacker is the son of a high-ranking Tennessee Democrat so I am sure no real investigation will be forthcoming and if the kid's case should become federal Barack will grant a presidential pardon when elected.

    Wired.com this:

..The story was briefly posted Wednesday to the 4chan forum where the hack first surfaced. Bloggers have connected the handle of the poster, "Rubico," to an e-mail address, and tentatively identified the owner as a college student in Tennessee.

Threat Level was unable to reach the student by phone because his number is unlisted. His father, when reached at home, said he could not talk about the matter and would have no comment. The father is a Democratic state representative in Tennessee.

good donkey - I like the spin. Props to you. Reframing this "crime" as citizen vigilance could be the best ticket.

Heck, for all any of us know at this point, the hacker could have been from one of the telecomms, just trying to protect all of us from terrorists.

Careful. you're making it personal now. Barack also supports immunity for the telecoms.

And who is this "we" you are referring to that hacked her email account? Do you have information that the CIA and FBI don't regarding who hacked the governor's email account or are you just baselessly assuming that they are "liberals?"

The AP chronicled the whole thing. They really upped their cred with progressives like me - they REFUSED to comply with the Secret Service when asked to give the source of the palin mails they got.

We've come a long way (in a surprisingly short time) from Gov. Palin's "they love me; they really really love me" moment in Minneapolis.

have we ever! Seen drudge today? We hacked her email account. Funny, aint it? We've been projecting that kind of stuff on bush co for almost 8 years. But we struck first.Hahahahahaa. Too funny!

Barack was a neighborhood activist. He was above working in the private sector, for profit. He was editor of the law review at Harvard, but he never published anything. Because he was above litigation and choosing sides. The rubes and the people in Fly Over country don't understand. Thats why they like this palin woman. Alaska is where THEY are mentally. Joe Biden had to explain it to a Michigan audience yesterday:

"All this stuff about how different Barack Obama is, they're not just used to somebody really smart. They're just not used to somebody who's really well educated. They just don't know quite how to handle it. Cause if he's as smart as Barack is he must not be from my neighborhood."
