I wonder how many people have pissed in the resevoir that were not caught on camea? I can see if he did it in the treatment facility, but this was in nature. They add chemicals to the water before it gets into the tap.

In any case, in any country, with any amount of denial, a "perp" with a knife = less dangerous than a "perp" with a gun.

@Stranger: Tell that to those who we have read on this forum who have been killed by stabbings. Remember the maniac in Akihabra? He killed seven(3 more than this case) with a knife. If they are not so dangerous, why didn't a regular person like yourself stop him.

I so enjoy living in a country where idiots with guns are not running around at night shooting people. But, I doubt Americans will ever wake up and institute any meaningful gun control measures. The denial runs too deep.

@StrangerinaStrangeLand I guess you didn't read the article in the crime section about an idot going around and robbing 80 year old women with a knife in Tokyo. If they use guns or knives there are bad people out there to do bad things.

America does have good gun control measures. I doubt if this person would have been able to buy a gun legitimately due to his past criminal record. I bet he used an illegally purchased gun.

As far as those who say you should have more carry permits, I agree. Looking back at the article I mentioned about the knife welding man who robbed 80 year old women, police believe he cased out the area to find out where the women lived. I amsure that this perp cased out this drug store too. But in both cases, you add the random element of someone possibly having a gun, I imagine that in both cases, the perps may not have chosen to rob.

The sideways cap with du-rag look went out of style at least 15 years ago, if not more. Don't even get me started on the Yankees as his team of choice.

Yeah, from what I read, he is from Pittsburgh. Must make the Pirates fans mad not supporting the home team.

What I really find funny about his "look" is that it is copied by many of the Japanese here. It really is amazing to see them when they land in LAX or DFW looking "gangsta" and run into the "real deal" back in the states. I once asked a Japanese guy who was wearing all blue and a UNC jersey if he even knew where North Carolina was, he didn't bu all he could tell me was it was in the "Dirty South."

I guess if he came to America, we would expect him to be wearing a yukata.

Yet he isn't any different than many young men these days - even in Japan

Wolfpack, I see the problem with his handlers dressing him up in this fashion as trying to catch the youth market. If you look at most of the Hip-Hop artist clothing, you will see that it is made up of bright colors and other things that one would associate with youth. When you associate someone as being youthful, people in societies like Japan that are pretty much homoegenous don't tend to feel threatened. Can you imagine him dressed as an older man the way most of the male Enka singers are? He probably wouldn't be as accepted. But as long as he looks like a kid, then the society here can accept him. Just my opinion.

I read in another story that the pants were those "pajama" type that people seem to be wearing out in public today. And that they were hanging down below his waist and exposing the top half of his boxers.

I wonder when it became fashionable to wear sleepwear in public. Never will get used to that.

For those who say that he is exercising his right to wear what he wants, let me ask you this question. Would you sit in the same seat after him after a 2 hour flight in an airplane? You do realize that with airline schedules, the plan would debark and reload within a matter of minutes, so do you think that the seat would have had a chance for a "deep cleaning."

So for those who say let them wear the pants the way that they want, just think about that.

Yep, playing up to a stereotype must take a lot of guts!

    That's a true statement.

I applaud his talents, but his handlers need to realize that not all Black people where baseball caps and "Do Rags" all the time.

I don't know why he resigned. If his constituents didn't want him anymore they could vote him out of office. Especially because all of this sounds like a private issue between him, his wife, and these women.

I don't know when people started to expect flawless morality from their politicians but to me it's rather stupid. It's not like we are talking about religious leaders or kindergarten teachers...

I think a poll revealed that those in his district wanted him out. But one thing to consider, if he were just a local NY politican, then it wouldn't matter. But even though he was elected from a particular district, he serves the nation as a whole. When he votes, he votes on laws that will not only affect his district but also the rest of the US. Like it or not, most people don't consider him to be trustworthy enough to hold his position. I know it is a double standard, but he gets the perks from being elected, so he has to be able to sacrifice some.

I don't expect flawless morality from him or any other person. I know we all make mistakes. But his were just too brazen and he felt as if he were untouchable, and that is what I see as the reason why most people wanted him to leave. If he is that careless, would you want him to be in charge of making laws?

I agree with you though. It does look like a setup doesn't it?

Weiner needs to go back and read the story of Icarus. He, like Icarus was flying too high with his wings of wax. What brought Weiner down was not Breitbart, but those in his own party. Weiner was used as a Dem "hitman" with his loud mouth to argue with the right on many issues. But he strayed from the path when Weiner stated that Obama was wrong for ssaying tha tIsrael should go back to the 1967 borders. Among his many stances, Weiner is a huge supporter of Israel.

In my opinion, that is probably what made him all of a sudden become expendable. Remember, Gov. Elliot Spitzer of NY was also a favorite of the Progressives. But he started to get too close to busting up the traders on Wall Street for some of their activities and startedl launching state probes into some of the goings on, and then all of a sudden we find out that he is customer "#9" in his own sex scandal.

My opinion is that the Dems knew what was going on, and when he started to stray too far from the "path" they had to put him in his place. Even if he doesn't resign, that loud voice for Isreal is now gone. They have plenty of others to take over the rest of his Progressive rants.

@NuckinFutz: Good points. I live in an area with an elderly Japanese couple next to me house. I see the man in the yard doing his garden work, and the wife doing her duties. Not ever have they made an attempt to speak to me or say hello. I can understand they may be hesitant since I am a gaijin, but my spouse is 100% Japanese and they never say hello to her. If they have children, never see them visit.

It will probably be very sad when one of them goes on to the next life. I don't see them interacting with anyone else at all and they will have a very lonely life.

Best conspiracy theory I head today on the radio was that Weiner came out against Obama's stance on Israel going back to the 1967 borders. Weiner was seen by some to be one of the strongest outspoken supporters on Israel, and his comments have made the Pres. look a little bad.

What is probably more worse, his actions just only enforced the sterotypes that many anti-Semites have against Jewish men. The "sex craved" man, and when finally faced with his crimes, he breaks down and cries (like he did today at his press conference).

I don't agree with that line of thinking, but I am sure those who found disfavor with him for his support of Israel in the Middle East, will probably have a field day with this incident. Even though he is married to a Muslim woman.

Bottom line, whether it was a conspiracy to expose him on his stances for Israel or his other issues is wrong. But he is still responsible for taking a photo like that and sending it. That was all him and noone to blame but himself.

The reason republicans get more flak for stuff like this is because they're always going on and on about "family values" and the "sanctity of marriage". what wife is Newt Gingrich on now? Number 4 or something? When is that hypocrite gonna resign?

@Humantarget: So you are saying that "family values" and "sanctity of marriage" are just phrases and it is ok to not heed to them? I miss the days that those values applied to persons in both parties, and not just being thought of as a talking point for Republicans.

    @Taka313: Good puns!

It's a sexy photo, that's all. Politically he'll survive. As for his marriage...

@LostinNagoya: He probably will survive politically since the Dems do have a tendency to let things like this go by. Remember the other NY Congressman (Rep) who sent pictures of his nude chest to a woman, he was forced to resign. He says he did it on his own, but it was the GOP behind him to make that decision. The press had a field day. I just hope that the press will give Weiner the same treatment, but I doubt it.
