    @Taka313: Good puns!

It's a sexy photo, that's all. Politically he'll survive. As for his marriage...

@LostinNagoya: He probably will survive politically since the Dems do have a tendency to let things like this go by. Remember the other NY Congressman (Rep) who sent pictures of his nude chest to a woman, he was forced to resign. He says he did it on his own, but it was the GOP behind him to make that decision. The press had a field day. I just hope that the press will give Weiner the same treatment, but I doubt it.

“The bread really came out great again today,” she gushes to him. Big deal, he shrugs—the whole process is automated, so she’d have to try hard not to get it right.

I guess the wife was taking a cue from ancient Rome, just giving her husband "bread and circuses" to keep him preoccupied on what is really going on. At least she may have half of it right, don't know what kind of "circus" he is getting but from reading his comments, I doubt a very fun one.

Up to last month, Mr S had handed over his entire pay packet to his wife. From this month he stopped.

Smartest move "Mr. S" has probably made. I have never understood why I would have to turn over my entire salary. I don't mind providing for the rent and utilities, and making sure the spouse has extra to take care of personal needs, but I find that once you become a responsible adult male, you should have enough maturity about you so that you don't go blow your entire paycheck on something frivolous without taking care of home.

I have seen many arguments between western men and J-ladies on this issue.

I've seen some of my Japanese employees exhibit some of these behaviors, especailly the one where they had to greet a female employee. When I took over and asked why they do so, they said that they didn't know why. I stopped that behaivor yet they were still afraid to stop. When I laid out the bottom line, that the person in question doesn't have the authority to fire them, and I had to put her in her place, things began to get a bit better.

Such strange behavior. Now I see why when I throw away the PET bottles at home, I see many bags with at least a case of beer in cans thrown away each week. Plenty of silent suffering here in Nippon.

Michiko Otsuka was chief director of the Support Network for Children with Development Disorders. Her 41-year-old son was living with her. He obviously has some mental problem. It could be development disorder, don't you think? But most people with mental problems don't stab their mother in the chest multiple times. This guy is also evil.

@Serrano: I would say that it takes someone with a mental problem to stab their mother with a knife multiple times. Not all, but you probably have a higher percentage than normal.

If he didn't have a mental disorder, I wonder did the mother say something to piss him off, like if those people that I work with who have problmes can find their way, why can't he do it. That would probably push him over the edge.

He didn't have a motive, he's 41 and was living with his mother, he obviously has a development disorder.

I hope that he didn't have a developmental disorder, becasue if he did, his actions would probably wipe out all of the work that the organization that his mother worked for with this action.

RIP to the lady. She was probably a good one.

Similarly, a 33-year-old woman from Miyagi Prefecture, one of the three northeastern prefectures hardest hit by the catastrophe, said she now greets and chats with neighbors whom she had seldom approached.

I think out of the whole article, this is the most important thing. I have noticed here in Japan that many neighbors do not really speak to each other, they just stay closed up in their homes.

I know being a gaijin I am not really expecting to be spoken to, but as an outside observer, I have noticed that none of my neighbors really speak to each other. I live in an area that has homes with large (by Japanese comparison) yards, and during the days with nice weather, never see the neighbors just outside sitting and chatting with each other.

So I hope out of all of this tragedy, some people will begin to do as this lady did, start speaking to each other. That goes a long way.

The truth is that the bust was lent to the United States and it was time to properly return it.

@yabits: Looking at a Telegraph article (and not Glenn Beck):

*...enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush's tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks." *

So I guess all the comments you seem to be making about Obama wanting to keep our special relationship with Britian are just double talk.

It takes a person of character to admit when they are completely wrong about something. I have not doubt whatsoever that President Obama has that quality of character.

@yabits: I am waiting for you to show me the link where Obama admits his faux pas with the Queen. I believe if you search for the Bush 41 apology you will find it.

This is not the first time Obama and his administration has made a fauz pas. Remember the little gaffe Hillary made when trying to make fun of the previous administration with the "restart" button with the Russians, and they told her on the spot that was the wrong word to use.

Still haven't seen the supposedly most "transparent" administration come up with any apolgy.

One more for the road, if Obama has real character, why set up a new position in his staff to counter any negative press. Negative press not so much from the right as much but that coming from the left.

why conservatives can no longer discern the truth from total falsehoods.

Why don't you start yourself by looking at your own statment:

or vomit up on his hosts the way W's dad did.

Bush 41 was sick. Though it was bad timing to throw up on the Japan PM, and he did look silly doing it, he didn't look like a "doofus" like "O" did.

Carey Grant was an excellent actor. My favorites were "Father Goose" and "Operation Peticoat." I wonder will she address the rumors that he was also gay in her book.

Rather than being in Paris, Prime Minister Kan should be in Japan trying to fix the problem that is occurring on a daily basis. He is just all show with no real agenda on how to fix real present day problems.

I can understand your sentiment, but he doesn't need to be here physically. With the advances in communication, he can go to the Japan embassy in Paris and get secure real-time updates just as if he were here in Japan.

Many people keep using that same mantra about leaders not being present. I can see if he was going on vacation and having "fun in the sun" but he is able to communicate with those he needs to without being here. Unless he was on a shovel actually doing work, I could understand.

He IS THE MAN!! I'm so proud of Barack Obama. For 8 years I was embarrassed to say George Bush was POTUS. Geez, all the pain and suffering. In my lifetime, that was easily the worst President I've ever seen. Made me leave the country.

At least "W" didn't flub the toast with the queen like Obama did.

I want to say thanks to Britain for showing their absolute best to Obama. The U.S and The U.K should have a strong relationship. We are competitive with each other at times (World Cup) but there's no doubting our common heritage and values.

Let me see, Obama sent back a bust of Churchill when he came into office. So much for endearing friendship. Also, Britian has decided to pull troops out of Irag and Afg. I guess it is their right, but I seem to remember back before the US entry into WW2 how we supplied Britian through Lend Lease (which was actually illegal)to keep Britian in the fight. So that special trust and friendship is not there it seems.

    Huh? $16,000 is peanuts.

@nandakandamanda: Might want to read closer, that's 16,000 people attending his announcement, not $16,000.

Herman Cain is a brave man. I can say as a registered Democrat that nothing frightens the party, nothing is more intolerable to most of my fellow Dems than a succesful black male who rejects what our party has done to black neighborhoods and families in order to get their votes. If black Repubs like him and the newly-elected (former Army Colonel) Alan West were to gain national attention I think it would change everything. The media is going to have to work hard to demonize Cain but without being seen as racist in doing so.

@Liberman20102: Excellent post! I thought that the whole goal of the Civil rights movement and the whoe Dem mantra was that we all are equal. But lately it is only "we are equal if you follow our beliefs and stay in your place."

If the GOP had any sense, they would really want to get a good primary race between Cain and Romney. At least that way some of the issues that really face America can be broought out, and we won't get the pandering that we normally have been getting from both sides.

Mexico has outlined a series of initiatives urging that the Mexican state be expanded based on its 1846 borders.

Only if they then demand that Spain pay them repirations for slaughtering the native Aztec and other Indian tribes that inhabited the land, and they inturn (the Spanish speaking Mexicans) give back the lands to the Aztec decendants or set up special areas for them (like the Punahu school in Hawaii for native Hawaiians). (Sarcasm intended).

Oh, so it was someone else who wrote the following: "Maria must be one cold 'Ice Princess' to make him go with this maid." -- under the tag of Alphaape.

@yabits: I didn't blame Maria, I merely stated that Arnold must have thought that she was some cold "Ice Princess" to justify his philandering. That is still no excuse either. But even if she was, that is still not a valid reason to sleep with a maid in your home and get her pregnant at the same time you are getting your wife pregnant.

Well done, Mr Obama for acknowledging that Israel is in the wrong. It's about time somebody addressed the rogue state.

I don't believe Israel started the war, but was attacked and won those territories. So if they won them after being attacked (surprise attack), why should they give them back to the same people who attacked them? Have the Palestinians decided to renounce suicide bombings and rocket attacks and acknowledged their part in attacking Israel first before asking for the territory back?

Casting blame on Maria Shriver for her ex-husband's infidelities revealed a gutter-level lack of class. Yeah, she made Arnold, who had a history of mistreating women, go with this other woman.

@yabits: I am not blaming Maria for anything. This one is all on Arnold. Also, people don't want to hear it, but it is on the maid too. Unless Arnold was holding her captive and forcing her to sex, she was willing. Willing to let him not use protection, and to do it in the house. She could have easily done the "legal thing" and sued him after the first time. Big name celebrity like him being involved in a scandal like that would have had implications. But yet, she slept with her employers husband in their home.

She is not only not pretty visually, she is not really pretty in the other "moral" regards too.

The only innocents in this story is the child born between them.

I still don't understand why they built the nuclear plant like 2 meters from the ocean. Aren't nuclear plants supposed to be at an isolated area with plain ground, as far as possible from towns and villages?

@Yaijrou, they build them close to large supplies of water in the event of what happened at Fukashima. In the event of a total loss of cooling water, there needs to be a ready source of water to dump on the reactor to cool it down. The thinking, it is one thing to deal with contaminated water and vapor vice having a core bury into the ground and release contamination into the air by overheating and exploding (not like the nuclear bomb version but on a small scale like a regular explosion).

It's still early. Gingrich never had a chance anyway. Better to get these no chance political hacks out of the way early, and let someone who knows what they are doing actually get heard.
