37 people have voted yes? I can't believe that. Come on Japan Today readers, I thought we were all above that. Hashimoto needs to be thrown out of office as soon as possible. His statements have absolutely nothing to do with his duties as mayor. Definitely makes Japan the laughing stock of the international community.

I hope that they can resolve this issue soon just so we don't have to hear about it in the news every week and let it be a form of leverage for politicians running for office claiming that they will resolve the issue.

You'd figure that after having 2 kids he would understand that crying is what babies do. I hope he cries when they lock him up in prison and his roommate smashes his head against the wall to stop him.

The law will allow for parents who separated before its enactment to apply to get a child returned, but contains a provision stating that the application can be refused if a child has been resident in the country for a year or more and is happily settled.

So in other words that means that pretty much none of the parents who separated beforehand to benefit from this as this issue has been going on for far longer than one year. How do they determine that the child is happily settled? Lots of these kids were taken when they were too young to comprehend what was going on and have most likely been further brainwashed by the kidnapping parent. They may be "happily settled" because they know no better, ignorant to the other loving parent they have.

This is a baby step in the right direction, but I don't see anyone benefiting from it any time soon.

Looks like Hashimoto needs a week to think up something that can offend the general public of everywhere even more than the last time. Here's guessing he goes all out and claims that the annexation of Korea was necessary.

Why would you rent a car and then "loan" it to an acquaintance? Pretty sure that alone is breaking the rules of renting a car as normally they only allow the person who rented it, or someone who has signed on at the same time as them to drive it. What a pathetic excuse. Who is this acquaintance? I bet he just so happened to look similar to him and disappear from the city at the same time with no form of contact available.

Glad to hear that this scumbag priest was not able to get his way. Can't understand why these people continue to send money to their "relatives" when it most certainly is going directly in to the pocket of the Kim regime which is the sole purpose why their relatives are in such a bad situation that they would need foreign aid in the first place. Religion is not tolerated in NK asides from the religion of Kim and thus this Buddhists attempt at "helping" them is an entire sham. The government needs to shut the Chongryon down for good and put a clause in the bill of sale of this building that whoever purchases it will not have ties with them in any ways. If they love the motherland so much why don't the return home? NK's re-education gulags would welcome them with arms wide open.

I wonder how many complaints were filed for those AKB48 suicide prevention posters they made up awhile back. To me those are more offensive, although I agree that the train platform is not the best location for these...

I can't believe that the government is completely fine with this. I really can't believe why that temple has that much money in the first place. I thought this was about sending a message, not just asking for money. Why are they taking money from sympathizers?

Their ship wouldn't be getting rammed if they weren't breaking their restraining order and driving their ship right in front of the Japanese fleet. The SS captains ought to be charged for attempted manslaughter of their own crews from reckless endangerment.

So it was found in 2006 and they just left it there? Why wouldn't they try and get it out of the water so they could put it in a museum somewhere or at least some place where divers couldn't come and steal from it? Sounds a bit irresponsible on their half to begin with.

I eat basashi at every izakaya that I go to that has it on the menu. There is some really good stuff and some really bad stuff. Didn't know that there was sukiyaki made with horse in it, but I will certainly put it on my list of foods to eat in the near future!

I'm sorry CH3CHO but there is no way that music is going to change the hearts of their leaders.

I really don't understand why any of these events are allowed to go on. If the countries don't have diplomatic ties and have all kinds of sanctions in place why is it that they allow anybody to go there. Sure music may not have anything to do with diplomacy nor basketball for the matter, but that doesn't mean that you can just ignore all the atrocities that are being committed in the country by its leaders. Unless they are playing for the political prisoners in the gulags to make their miserable lives better then I see absolutely no point in allowing the elites who cause that misery to enjoy it either.
