So, given a body without a head that was presumably in quite an advanced state of decomposition, you think you could make a more accurate estimation of her age? Presumably that is all the experts can get with the evidence they currently have, and I'm impressed they can get that much from the headless body of a person who died 6 months ago. How is there anything to criticise here?

Actually I think it would be much harder to hide the belly at 9 months pregnant. Not all women suffer from morning sickness, and swollen feet (which again not all women get) would surely be a lot easier to hide than a huge tummy!
Kudos to the son for calling the police when he found the baby.

She has hyper-extended elbows- very common here. I see it all the time in my yoga classes.

I wonder how her parents feel about her not using her degree after they paid for her to study law at Aogaku, which is not cheap? I suppose she can pay them back with interest if her music career is successful.

Actually you only bhave to be moderately flexible to do that, but you do have to be quite strong. That is why these girls don't have model figures- you need muscles to do jumps like that. If they didn't have those legs they wouldn't be cheerleaders.

"The last 10 decades", i.e 100 years? Did he really say that? I'd be willing to bet it was actually "the last 2 decades".

I was surprised when we went bowling in Shibuya a few weeks ago that we didn't have to wait- I thought there would be queues, but we went straight in, so interesting to see this article. One of the floors did have black light and what it made it look like was an 80s disco- not sure why the people above think that's likely to draw the crowds. It will be a combination of the low birthrate, the expense, and bowling simply being out of fashion. Booms never last. The number of people who ski in Japan now is half what it was in the late 80s and early 90s during the height of the "ski boom" apparently.

So you would cancel all festivals if you were in charge? Thank goodness you're not, because the world would become a very boring place if you were.
And to the people who think that anyone does firewalking through 3m+ high flames, no. The guy is preparing the fire, as it says in the caption. They walk across the embers much later, as explained above.

The Japanese news reports that one of the victims had her lung punctured, and is in a serious condition, so maybe not all okay. Interesting that two of the victims are women- I had assumed they would all be men. What a coward, to stab an 81-year-old woman.

Actually I think it's a mistranslation. JT editors, socks have toes, not fingers. Just for the sake of accuracy, he also appears to be giving her more than one pair of socks.

Given that she probably wears high heels most of the time outside, she would be better off not walking on her tip toes at home- she needs to stretch her Achilles tendons and calf muscles, which can be severely shortened by constant wearing of high heels.

This is not true. While I fully agree that seatbelts are non-negotiable and save many lives, wearing one does not guarantee surviving a high speed accident for example, or one in which part of the car is crushed. There are huge forces involved in head-on collisions, and sometimes they are just not survivable, even with seatbelts. Also, we do not know for sure that the victims were not wearing their seatbelts, so comments like this are inappropriate.

Except banks in Japan are only open for 6 hours a day...also the tellers in my bank wouldn't be able to hear the recording anyway, there is a door between that part of the bank and the ATMs.

This woman has admitted to deliberately breaking the elderly peoples' ribs because she was annoyed. Apparently they have all since died, most of them of pneumonia, although it's not certain that their deaths were directly related to the fractures. Broken bones at that age are never good though. Sympathy for this woman is misplaced, I'm afraid. She has committed quite a heinous crime.

I'm also wondering why this is news. "People check things out on the internet before going to purchase!" This can be said of a lot of things these days, surely.

No, it's not your imagination. Abuse by step-parents is not an unusual situation in any country. They often have no emotional attachment to the child, so if it annoys them and they have poor impulse control, abuse results.
