Really? I think she looks particularly plastic in this picture and that the hairstyle doesn't suit her. There are much better shots of Ebi-chan out there- I don't see why everyone likes this one so much.
Also- she is far from anorexic. I work with people with eating disorders from time to time and they have bones poking out all over, muscle wastage, yellow papery skin and very visible veins. Ebi-chan looks perfectly healthy- I wish people wouldn't throw around words like "anorexic" lightly, it's ridiculous.

I am glad that you people who want to see such traditions abolished don't run the place. Which other old traditions would you like to see disappear? Festivals? Weddings? Christmas? What a boring place the world would be if we got rid of all the old traditions and ceremonies.

I think you'll find that ambassadors "present their credentials" to heads of state, not "hand in their accreditation"- "hand in" sounds a bit casual for something being presented to the emperor.
Moderator: It has been amended.

Agree with ogtob- the guy on the right is really putting some effort into his haka face.

Sad. I hope this guy gets the book thrown at him and I wish that young guys would stop thinking that they are such fantastically skilled drivers that they can speed and ignore the road rules without any consequences.

It is well known that climbing, especially in snowy conditions, is a dangerous sport. People who climb are usually well aware of that. I don't think that hiking comes with as much danger, but if you are worried about falling, then don't do it (although I imagine it's pretty unlikely, since we don't see articles like this every day).
A 2,400m sheer drop somewhere in Nagano? Now that would be a spectacular thing to see if it were accurate.

I would say this happens in Japan more than in most of our home countries because more people here live in multi-story buildings, for goodness sake- isn't that obvious? It's extremely rare in my home country but that's because families who live in high rises are also extremely rare, not because people there are far more skilled parents than people in Japan.

The people saying they wish they hadn't looked at this link, are you saying there's something repulsive about this picture? How very shallow.

What's wrong with their legs? They look great to me. What can you possibly have against the pair of legs on the right, for example? Slim, shapely, what on earth is the problem?

I don't see what the fuss is about. Uniqlo has been selling this type of top with a built-in bra for several years now (I own a few and some of them are getting old), and tops with built-in bras have been sold by other manufacturers and in other countries for many years- there is nothing new or innovative about them, it's just that the advertising is more obvious this time.

Cheerleaders need a lot of leg and upper body strength to perform their routines, so they do weight-training, and many are strongly-built girls to begin with. I would also suggest that the figures of these girls are more typical of the average Japanese- the actresses and models who are usually featured here are the unusual ones.

I would think that wearing this bra would significantly reduce one's chances of getting married.

I like this line: "the Nexco spokesperson sucked in most of the available oxygen in the Kanto area before saying..."- that's funny. Anyone who's lived in Japan for a while has seen that kind of "muzukashii desu ne" teeth-sucking many a time.
