Well, variety was made to suit different tastes. I guess Tsuyoshi Shinjo just is not my type. Too skinny - looking at his ribcage showing where his shirt is open, I find hard to believe the fact he's a sportsman.
Actually, when I saw the photo the words "THIS IS SPARTAAA!" spontaneously came to my mind and Shinjo got tossed into a bottomless pit. Maybe I've had enough coffee.

What's awesome about installing dynasties of politicians? That does not seem coherent with the concept of democracy (demos = the people) as oposed to oligarchy.
For an example, Japanese politicians. They inherit the nominations and even the support of the bases not on their own merit, but on BIRTHRIGHT as if we were in feudal times. What is so awesome about it? Competent leaders not posterboys is what a nation needs; but some views about birthright and blood's magical properties are so deeply ingrained in the public psyche it takes no less than a great social shock to make people reconsider - and that seems to be looming in the horizon.
Blood does not guarantee competence or talent. It's the person's own achievements and charisma that show if that person is qualified to be a leader. All this mockery of her ums and hms is ridiculous. Do people really believe blood makes some people superior to others in the 21st century? Because otherwise they wouldn't mock in disappointment.

Indeed, work hours need to be enforced in Japan. If people are not allowed to go home or are driven to linger till the boss decides to leave, the nation simply won't rise the birthrate.
My mother is a Civil Engineer, happily married to my dad, who is also a Civil Engineer. She worked till retirement age, now is a Consultant. Four daughters, all attended university (Three Civil Engineers, one Architect). Our father was fully engaged in our education as well. No, we are not an exception in our country. Why does this seem impossible to achieve in Japan?
Posted in: One myth that needs to be destroyed in Japan is that more working women will drive the birthrate even lower. Empirical evidence around the world shows the opposite is true.

Perhaps the economic crisis will allow a shift in Latin American policies that allows them to further reduce the United States' influence in the region and reach a level of equality, not the "Big Brother" approach that has benefited no one (except a string of dictators and guerrillas financed by the United States in the 60s to 80s, invasions and military interventions). If Latin America successfully manages her markets with Europe, India, China and Russia, maybe the economies will become stronger out of a better balance. Perhaps the global recession will give Latin American countries the momentum to consolidate itself as an independent market and lessen dependency on the United States as a client.

iTunes Japan ballooned the prices of ALL THE SONGS from 99 yen to 150 yen overnight. According to the news from Apple only -some- songs were going to cost more, and there would be a range of prices between 99 to 150 yen. Now everything is 150yen - 15 songs on iTunes are the same price (if not somewhat more expensive) than buying the CD on Amazon Japan, which offers free shipping. If I rip the songs to mp3 from the CD myself, I can play them in whichever device and program I want, as many times I want - so... what's the advantage to buy on iTunes Japan, again? They lost ME as a client when the prices went up without any distinction or price range.

They need to get the skin tone right. The masks look like white men with a slight tan. I wonder if there's an underlying cultural issue preventing the Japanese artist from painting the skin the right color, since it's a black man they are representing. Sort of like the movie Gedo no Senki, where most of Earthsea's peoples were black but you won't see a single black person in that movie. Only slightly tanned people.

Bobcatfish: No one has the right to touch another's body with lecherous intentions without the other's consent. Sexual expression/intention is all it takes to make touching inappropriate. Can you tell the difference between a hand shake with your boss and have your hand squeezed by someone "amorous?" If the victim feels harassed, she/he WAS harassed.

Nessie: I don't drink beer; I never developed a liking for it. I only drink on occasion, like parties, at the toast... or on holidays sometimes. On Christmas season I favor hot cocoa with Bailey's before calling it a night. It goes nicely with coffee, too. Or coffee with Cointreau or Amaretto... The scent of holidays and sweet relaxation right there.

I cook my own food, avoid industrial pre-made foods (such as dumplings, frozen patties and the like), never eat out (unless there's some sort of university gathering), avoid alcohol consumption and walk as much as possible instead of taking the bus. I try to eat at the right times and sleep more than 6 hours a night. Ideally, 8 hours. I don't smoke. I take multivitamins with minerals and Calcium daily. I don't have sugar at home, except sometimes diet sugar sticks for occasional tea.
When I feel I need to burn off some stress, I workout at home; mainly 1.5 pound dumbbells.

Go Mrs. Cleo! I support you ~^0^~
Monogamy is indeed for grown-ups. People can be past 59 years old and yet, still a teenager in mind and social expertise. A grown-up is in control of his body via their mind, not viceversa.
I think the main fear of those that reject (not disagree philosophically, but rather reject it from a visceral viewpoint) are simply afraid of commitment and the HUGE responsibility it represents. Indeed, a grown-up controls his or her own actions and owns up to them. THAT is the main ugly point some people seem to reject. Their partner's health (like, STDs delivered to their door including AIDS), peace of mind, the emotional health of possible children involved... There's a lot of things, not only economic duties. If a person knows themselves promiscuous off the bat, they ought not to get into a compromise with someone who hopes for something "meant to be" aka, stable and lasting.
Indeed, like Mrs. Cleo pointed out, if monogamy is not even in a person's plans, they ought not to get into a "committed" relationship like marriage or civil union, if they know from the start they will not honor the vows they are taking. It'd be responsible, even.

I dunno about Protestants and their multiple sectors, but Catholics believe the Justs will also be saved - the Justs are those people who have not found Christ but live honorably and love Mankind, with action and thought. However the bottom of the question remains, for us believers Christ is the Savior.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! ^0^!

Smithinjapan: Thanks for your insightful post, but you missed my point. I speak about food and resources; you tell me about taxes and refunds. It's not the same thing, yet the second depends on the first.
Temps and permanent workers are already getting fired in higher numbers than previous years. That I think, is an important indicator. I wouldn't expect those refunds and bonuses in the same fluency next year. There are harder times ahead.

Japan feeds itself? That is not the best analogy; the Japanese government is actually struggling to raise the self-sufficiency food rate. Japan is poor in natural resources and depends strongly on importing food and raw materials. Strong yen is VERY BAD NEWS for Japan. I was perplexed at the recent news here on JT about how Japanese consumers are indulging on shopping imported products. They should be SAVING now instead of spending on superfluous goods! Who is going to consume Japanese products if the yen remains so strong? And where will the money come from once exports decrease to an alarming point?
Ignorance is bliss.
