I think Japan is doing quite well CONSIDERING....the ridiculous conditions the teachers and students work under. June to mid-late September is a cruel joke and the winter months with no heat are almost as bad. Half of this year was pretty much a write-off.

Actually, about a month ago I was out washing my car with my daughter and a family of monkeys just went walking by. It was kinda cool albeit a bit surreal.

My car idles for a couple minutes after I get out....turbo timer. I get a kick out of people who give me the "you left your car running" look.

Hey, I think the guy should be applauded for actually being there in Ebisu park with his family. The stereotypical Japanese dude would either be logging unpaid overtime or in the pachinko parlor.

Hotbox08....Those days are all but gone. There will never be another miracle on ice. It was a fluke...a wonder fluke. Also, we will never see anything like the '72 Summit Series where team Canada got lucky to beat the Red Army. That drama was rare and magical....once in a lifetime. You (and I) should just accept it.

Larguero...Russia, Canada, America, scandinavia, is certainly more than 1%. wink,,
Midnight..I agree. North American style hockey is the norm these days. Run and gun is still the essence of our game.

The better TEAM won. Irrespective of individual talent there is no denying that team Canada moved and controlled the puck better than any other team. In fact, I haven't seen that kind of puck handling and control since the Soviets back in the 70's...or the famous Canada Cup '87 series. Team USA has spectacular talent but they had to rely heavily on their speed and youth for dump, chase and dig style hockey. Give them a few years to mature and you'll see more cohesive, settled tic-tac-toe passing. Four years from now they are going to be huge.

Branded...What are you on about? It was never a "supposed to be a lambs to the slaughter". Point me to where anyone was silly enough to say that. The US team is as stacked as any other. There were many predicting a US/Canada final including some of the team Canada higher management.
Sour mugs?? Well, DUH!! If I just spent $1000 for my family to watch a game of a lifetime and the host team lost....umm, ya.
Look, Enjoy the victory...we were "worked"...rolls eyes.

Branded....did we watch the same game? It was Miller time.. and a couple deflections off Canadian players on Brodeur who never really showed up to play. That's about it. Shots on goal..45-23 see that? Hey, that's the nature of the game...but "worked"..nah.

I believe losing was a good thing for Canada. They always need more games to start working as a team.
