I just dislike with all my soul how US interfere into politics of other countries, and also forcing their own opinion without >asking. This is so wrong... Like giant squid got fake order to spread his long filthy tentacles to the virgin's hidden >places

"interfere into the politics of other countries" ?

North Korea is a major issue that Japan-South Korea and the United States have a lot of vested interest in, you'd think those North Korean tanks won't be rolling in if the US was hands off in the region?

Oddly, said folk have to hold one of a selection of credit cards from their home countries, but must pay cash in Japan, >as their cards won’t work when they’re overseas anyway.

Ha, while foreign cards do have trouble at ATMs, the situation is very different at point of sales terminals (eg a cashier at the department store). I have never had a card rejected at an actual point of sale terminal.

That's under investigation at the moment. Many in the media are critizing the police including myself on this goof. Apparently he was caught, admitted to the crimes, so they put him in the back of the patrol car for escort, as they arrived at the police station, he pulled out a hidden knife and slit his throat.

Too bad he did not see justice and took the easy way out, but at least they got their man.

I'm not sure about the Korean Criminal Justice system, but it's probably something like, the police detain you, and then formal arrest warrants are issued to keep you detained. Sorta like in Japan of how people are arrested for "disposal of a body" then later upgraded to "murder" or something.

Unwanted attention, unlikely, just "playing the game", they get arrested, tried, suspended sentence, deported, group disvows them, they turn on the group. We've seen it before. A month later it's under the rug. Next year, new group of blokes do the same thing, same posts here on JT, and the cycle repeats itself.

In addition, he has a criminal record from Taiwan. Tokyo Police have requested his record from Taiwanese officials. Apparently about 10 years ago, he was arrested on somesort of sex related charge. Not to say that was the motive for murder here. Autopsies of the victims do not show any signs of sexual assault. They believe he is heading towards the Kansai region.

His father is quoted of saying he believes his son is innocent, but evidence is pointing otherwise. Taiwan officials also state he could face prosecution back in Taiwan after being prosecuted in Japan.

Japan Today really needs to stay on top of this news! Very strange that two foreigners have been killed, a foreigner is named the suspect, and the story is buried here on Japan Today...

Tokyo Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 30year old Taiwanese man in connection with the murders. The 30year old man went to the same language school as the two victims, he lived 10minutes away, has a past criminal record in Taiwan, and has been missing since the incident. Police investigation into his apartment found the girl's room keys, and blood soaked materials. They believe he is traveling in the Kansai Region. Tokyo Police are working with Taiwanese officials to get his criminal record, but looks like 10 years ago he was arrested for somesort of sexual related crime.

His father believes his son is innocent and says that school begins on the 12th and that his son is just out on vacation. If he son does not show up by the 12th, then there's nothing more to be said. He urges his son to turn himself to the police.

And what exactly was a Japanese manned coast guard vessel doing 26 km of the coast of Australia? Imagine the outrage if China sent a coast guard vessel that close to Japan. 2 sets of rules as usual

There wasn't a coast guard ship there. The Shonan Maru 2 is a Japanese whaling ship, that had coast guard officers on board for security.

I moved to Japan in July and had a one-week JR rail pass to use before starting work in Tokyo on August 1.

I wonder if he came with a temporary visitor's status, because you can't get the JR Pass with any other status (minus Japanese who are living permanently OUTSIDE of Japan). If he started work a week later..

From an international relations standpoint that would not be great. But all signs at the moment point to the fellow countryman classmate as being the killer.

Autopsy report shows that the victims were stabbed multiple times, this generally indicates that the killer had a very bad grudge against the victims for one reason or another.

Police suspect that the attacker was a male classmate of the students. Since the incident, he is the only classmate they have not been able to contact. A search of his apartment (nearby the dormitory where the girls were killed) police discovered the keys to the girls apartments and bloodstained material in his apartment.

So pretty much you bike to the airport and take a plane, then catch a ferry..misleading headline. I can bicycle to the train station, fold by bicycle and take the train to Narita, check my bicycle, land in NYC and still say I bicycled form Tokyo to New York City???

A company I used to work for had a bicycle team and they would often bicycle from Western Tokyo to Haneda as training exercises.

The police gave him multiple warnings to put down the weapon AND HE DID NOT. Those airsoft guns look real, and you don't have a choice to sit there wondering ("well it might be fake") if you do you're dead.

.. However, I think that the Juki (basic residents register) net card you can apply for once you are eligible to be in the register will allow a legal alias. I saw this in some materials regarding the proposed change. However, I don't think it was finalized (just a proposal at the time)

There's a card for the residency system too?
