13 officers and none of them could get a license plate, swing on a police vehicle to follow him? Good lord.

Sure can happen, we don't know the exact position of the officers, the weather conditions, rate of speed the car was going, any obstructions to the license plate, if you are jumping out of the way of a car trying to ram you, I'd like to see you remember the plate as well.

Robbery with a box cutter?.. robberies like this make me think Japan has no men in the country..

    What's that supposed to mean?

The terrorists on 9/11 used box cutters and hijacked four airplanes.

Without knowing exactly what happened, it's hard to pass judgement, yes people love to say "watch your kids", I wonder what kind of kids you were. I remember when I was a kid, rolling down hills, jumping like crazy, "being a kid". But again we don't know the exact sequence of events or exactly what happened here.

Sometimes it's not the OS but the platform that is running the OS that causes the issues. There are many droid platforms out there that just blow, and some that are excellent. Same for windows phone (and going back to pocket pc devices).

In the whole scheme of things 2000-3000 accidents compared to the millions of bicycle riders out there is a pretty small percentage.

Put more bicycles back on the street than the sidewalks, the headline will change to "POLICE GET TOUGH ON DRIVERS" because the number of bicycle vs car will increase.

As for the Rent-A-Cop. He should have known better than to put his hands on a drunk servicemen. That's a trained soldier. You don't put your hands on him to control him.

The security guard was on the phone calling/attempting to call the police when he was attacked.

Nothing says he put his hands on to control the guy.

Sorry about the driver, but dang that is ONE LUCKY PASSENGER.
Reminds me of that guy in the US who got hit by a car once, then the ambulance taking him to the hospital gets hit.

The fact is, and if you want to try it yourself you can, no matter where you go in the world, if you take a radiation instrument with you and look around, you'll eventually stumble across something that's above what the background for that area normally is.

Of course the Fukushima 50 is largely a media invention. 50 sure did stay for a few hours before the numbers jumped to 180.

People are going to be stuck on the past and hate NO MATTER WHAT is done. This isn't a specific Japan-Korea thing, but can be seen from looking at some past conflicts between other groups of people. Some people just hate and hate and the cycle continues no matter what.

Because it won't be as symbolic as having the Japanese themselves return it inside Korea then just dropping it at the front steps at the Korean Embassy to the Ambassador.

    It must be cultural?

Cross cultural is more like it because "doing nothing" is something you see across the globe, from China to the United States. Heck just look at the news recently in China about that little girl that got hit by two cars, you hear news about people doing nothing from time to time from all parts of the globe.

Folks, for those not familiar with uniforms and flags, Noda in this particular photograph (and we all know how photographs don't show the whole picture) is passing inspection of Maritime Self Defense troops (aka The NAVY), he just finished inspecting the Ground Self Defense Force troops (pictured to the left).

He is passing in front of the Martime Self Defense Force color guard, which is flying the flag/"ensign" of the Martime Self Defense Force, the MSDF's flag's sun is offset to the side with 16 rays compared to the wartime flag of Japan which had a centered flag. The GSDF flag has 8 rays.

Maybe they're trying to devise a system for those 10,000 free tickets to Japan they want to give out next year... Seriously, I highly doubt tourism to Japan is going to jump up in the next few years because of radiation hysteria.
