Swanky for those who don't mind parting with probably many thousands of their hard-earned yen, but I'm with @MaboDofu. My father in law would love Nissan's phone case, but upon buying a brand new car, he immediately put tasteless seat covers on to 'protect' the colour-coordinated upholstery.

The couple have money, the hospital would undoubtedly benefit from the money, and they didn't want hassle from the many people who would shamelessly hassle them. Fair enough, I say - and congratulations!

Multiple mobile phone quake warning alarms went off in the coffee shop I was in today, which was a little unnerving, but would seem that the Tokyo subway shook more than we did at ground level.
@MaboDofulsSpicy - The Yurekuru application seems to have got its act together since the big one on March 11, when it went off 90 minutes after the fact. It was more a case of 'Yure kita' than 'kuru'.

Saw him on NHK this morning and couldn't decide whether it was the pause-filled, monotone speech that was sapping my will to live over my cornflakes, or the scrappy tash that would be more at home on the lip of a bloke with a perm in a Liverpool pub.

The Softbank marketeers are obviously on the good stuff. Their commercials, however, are thankfully free of Hollywood celebrities making knobs out of themselves. @cactusjack makes a valid point, so why the thumbs down?

Can we assume that 30 year old Kobayashi san needs less soy and more meat in his diet if he is thinking of his mother when he has his head on the lap of an attractive young lady? As if that wasn't a creepy enough start to the article, we then get scraping with sharp bamboo stick, daily build-up, excavate... . The second paragraph was such a tease before nausea was induced. Jeez, it's a good job I wasn't eating when I read this.

Geex. There are far too many samui people for a country that isn't very samui.

Hot girls, but the idea of thousands of greasy-haired, anime figurine-collecting otaku leering at them is rather nauseating.

Oh, and @porter, same here. My hands were shaking too much to switch on my mobile phone video camera. The 18th floor of my building was swaying far too much.

While I'm sure Chiba kun's boss would've lavished praise on him for his heroics ("うん、悪くないな、君”), I really hope his mother gave him a good clip round the ear. He's a very lucky fella.

This is a great pic, and I hope that the overseas media get more and more of this kind of thing on air in place of the dramatic nonsense that we've seen since the disaster. The people of Tohoku need this type of help as fast as possible and we are all behind them.

I've always found the 'off'button pretty handy when something that I don't want my daughter to watch comes on TV. I suspect, however, that switching a TV off when there are still people in the house would be unthinkable for the majority of families in developed countries these days.

Sacre bleu! French cosplay girl in pink wearing bunny slippers. I fail to see anything wrong with that. @JackDorff - do we know that Mr.Chirac would object to this kind of thing? @sushimike - that's #3 on my to-do list.

Tabehoudai, Shinjuku-style. The girls in the pictures look a bit too well-dressed for it to be a recent photo, or is it still officially samui?

There's a new one opened up at my local station, and they really are Krispy Kreme-ing in the coinage. Hour-long queues at the weekend for donuts that pale in comparison with MisDo.
