They should gas and bury him, then deny that too.

Needn't go to that extreme. Spending one winter night on a wooden plank, wearing a thin prisoner's uniform, in one of the old concentration camps ought to be sufficient to change his mind.

To companies like GS, "deregulation" is simply a license to steal. (In the guise of "new financial instruments" that earn nothing except bonuses for the brokers.) They should be fined heavily, and audited from now to kingdom come.

Hey is it only me or is the Title wrong??

It's only you, Tezbo. I would suppose most readers would see it's a humourous play on words.

This book is a persuasive argument for re-instituting miscegenation statues.

If your date is more than two hours late and you keep standing close to the auditory assault, the "Shinkoku-Juku" (Divine Nation Taliban) may very well render you as deaf as chuuken Hachi-ko.

To these guys, Japan started going downhill from 1868. They haven't had a new idea since the Russo-Japanese war.

I have a Japanese friend in his late 40s. Both his parents smoked around him since infancy. In fact, I think his mother smoked during pregnancy. It's no surprise that he's totally addicted to tobacco. What's more, he looks closer to 60 than 50. He's always been slender, but now he'd downright haggard. I think there are plenty of middle-aged people in Japan who, like him, will pay a high price for the previous generation's lack of awareness of the dangers of smoking.

What rankles me is having to shampoo and launder to get the odor of other people's fags out of my hair and clothing. The smell will cling to anyone, even if he/she sits a good distance away in the non-smoking area.

Japan's upper house is a menagerie of pro wrestlers, speed skaters and TV comics. I can't think of a single justification for its continued existence.

This is almost certainly a business operation. When he assembles enough footage (leggage?) he edits it into a DVD and distributes it via the usual sleazy channels. Probably makes several hundreds of thousands of yen on it. The police should check out his bank transactions and whack him with a big fine if he's been profiting from the pics.

I'm sure by this weekend, "Saturday Nite Live" will come up with a long list of not very flattering alternatives to use in their stead.

I've noticed that some Japanese smoke while drinking (or after drinking) as a way of holding down the contents of their stomachs. Having considered the various repercussions, I have concluded that this is one time when I'd rather they do smoke. Under normal circumstances, however, I'd prefer people didn't.

While Japan's defence outlays appear relatively high by international comparison, I recall having seen data to the effect that a high proportion of the funding goes to personnel-related costs -- salaries, bonuses, etc., which are pegged to the same benchmarks as other national government employees.

To do anything else is clear evidence that the Japanese media is fanning the flames of xenophobia.

Frungy, I'm not the moderator, but if I were, I would explain to you that Kuchikomi is a department with contents excerpted from vernacular magazine stories. If the magazines are sold for one week, it would make sense that the translation is posted for the same duration.

IF and WHEN Japan is prepared to amend Article 9 of their constitution, convert their completely defensive SDF into a real military with at least some limited offensive capability,

... then the consumption tax will rise from 5% to 25% and people can be reminded of what it's like to support their own military-industrial complex.

18,000 dead over the past four years is probably worse than Afghanistan. These people are even more ruthless than the Russian Mafiya, and I suppose it's just a matter of time before American cops start suffering similar fates. Maybe then it will start taking serious measures.
