The doctors are getting screwed by the HMOs--let that be your focus. I "should have known" you'd take the side of the greedy, insensitive corporate pigs.

Let's cap the salaries of all occupations at reasonable amounts--why just lawyers, and trial lawyers at that. Why not corporate lawyers? Are they somehow more nobler? Hehehehehe, I have to laugh at all the boogiemen the wingnuts come up with. We should start with caps on the salaries of execs of the big HMOs to start.

The biggest reason that health care is so expensive in the States is that is is "for profit." Private insurance companies pay people (raising administrative costs by 30% or more) to deny you coverage. What you get is more expensive health insurance and poor heath care. And the health care industry pours millions of dollars to buy off our elected representatives while laughing all the way to their private jets to take them to their off-shore profits in the Caymans. Tort reform--hah! You fools.

The poor health care system in the U.S. is not a result of too many lawyers. Don't believe everything you think.

Considering the "justice" received in Japan with their deliberately kept low number of lawyers, I'll take too many any day. Lawyers provide an integral part in a judicial system of checks and balances.

No, not at the levels we are seeing now. And there wouldn't have been murders because of liberal talk shows--we respect the sanctity of life.

Repubs' dictionary of medicine:
Socialized medicine--public bureaucrat between you and your doctor under a universal, affordable health care plan.
Free-market medicine--private bureaucrat paid to deny you coverage between you and your doctor under a health care plan affordable by few.

Maybe it's better for Iran that Ahmadinejad did retain power. The West's gushing over Mousavi makes me think his "reforms" might have benefited multinationals more than the people of Iran. At any rate, Ahmadinejad knows he has a restless population and that he needs to deal with the States to improve Iran's economic situation. He deal on the nuclear issue eventually, providing Israel doesn't screw the whole thing up. Maybe he should just say he'll allow inspections and not pursue nukes when Israel dismantles theirs and agrees to the same verification procedures demanded of Iran. Seems fairsy squaresy to me.
