There is no "nice" way of killing..its the deprivation of life that`s the crime..Life with hard labour..

In a investment bubble along with the greed driving the asset price inflation there must also be some form of liquidity..real money or debt.Over the years since Japans own asset bubble implosion it has been lending vast sums of money at interest rates near or actually at 0%..this lead to the creation of what has become known as the "Japan Carr trade" where this money at low rates, was taken around the world and invested where it gained higher returns..one notable destination for this was Iceland although it has been used in most markets. So in fact when the final analysis is done it may in fact be Japan whose policies have had the most influence on the current greed driven debacle.

Miscarriages of justice are a fact of life, they happen. To all those in favour of the death penalty i ask..are you prepared to be executed or have a member of your family executed knowing you/them to be innocent? if you are then i accept your opinions about the death penalty, if you are not prepared to be that innocent person why do you support a system of punishment that ensures others suffer this fate..however rarely it may be. You might say it is ok to suffer a few miscarriages in order to maintain the deterant effect of the death penalty..i say not even 1 wrong conviction in 1,000 is acceptable. People make mistakes..its difficult to rectify them after death. This in no way means that i have a "hard on" for the disgusting perpetrators of these obscene acts and only the congenitally insane could suggest such a ridiculous idea. Instead of the death penalty..life with hard labour.

I suppose those who start investing today on the back of these "rock bottom" prices will be motivated only by altruism right and not greed? Interesting that you went on to compliment barflys post that recommended selling...as brilliant..which is it buy or sell? Anybody who is getting pleasure from the current meltdown is a bona fide idiot..who unable to connect the dots thinks this is happening to a world system in a parallel universe..it is all connected together..you too are losing out by it,just in ways that have not been noticed by you yet.

Not sure what a psychotic sexual more is,but ill take a guess..is it viewing a 10 year old girl as sexualized merely because she is wearing shorts and boots? Women from whatever nation should be encouraged to feel free enough to dress exactly as they want. However i would caution any female who wants to look good to understand that tattooed eyebrows generally wreck the appearance from any viewing range inside 5 metres. As to my theory as why Japanese ladies find shorts and boots desirable..well maybe its something to do with accentuating leg length i for one cant blame them for trying to right natures wrong in this department.

China is not the only country where censorship is a daily event..Japan uses it too..its just called moderation here. Keyword/triggerword searches are used by every major intelligence organization on the planet.

Like a newly diagnosed diabetic, who has understood something was not quite right for sometime but has been in denial, the us/global financial system will need to change its diet in order to survive long term, however right now there is a more immediate problem a potentially fatal blood clot exists in the system, the patient needs the clot buster drug now! any delay and there may be nothing but a twitching corpse to look at. If it were any other company sector that were in trouble i,d say well tough you can fail..but these are the banks they hold the deposits of us all..well actually only a fraction of these deposits at anyone time..and this is the problem..imagine the scenario if the public cannot get at any of their money ..then realize that people can anticipate this possibility..and the bank run starts..and this time if it starts it may cause civil catastrophe.."a distressing scenario would then unfold" he was not talking about having to cut out icecream and eat one less hamburger at ball games, he was talking about anarchy..lawlessness. Bush has cried wolf before..this time he is not we are close to a disaster we need to re-establish calm ASAP and worry about the cost later, when the villains of the piece can be systematically brought to book to provide the deterrent value needed in order to avoid repeats, but this can only be achieved if some viable system still exists, our system is in terminal jeopardy right now. If this patient does not survive then the environment would become so extreme that both money under the bed and gold would be worthless, a safer bet would be food, water and guns. If you want to help avoid this outcome and not contribute to it..leave your money in the banks.Counter intuitive maybe..but more helpful than blind panic.

"The glory of being a single mother ends with the handout from society"?"Maybe she killed "it"...we are talking about a human here. In return for the unlimited attention the child deserves you get trust and love. Truly civilized societies dont use killing as a punishment. Just suppose for a moment it was the mother..wouldnt it be more beneficial to find out exactly what drove her to this act rather than just condeming and then forgetting..crimes like this always happen for some reason,no matter how crazy this reason may appear it is real to the perpetrator, find the reasons and eliminate them..you might end up with fewer victims in the long run..of course that would take perhaps more effort than some of the armchair sages would be prepared to devote,if you cant be bothered well...

Dogdog may be right in his assertion with regard to the Japanese elite but you could extend that to every other countries elite both then and now..however the rest of his post appears to have total ignorance as its foundation. The war in asia a "non event" ask any of the us/commonwealth veterans of that conflict if they agree with that,"kill ratios" tell you nothing about the balance of a conflict,if they did he would not attest that Russia "won" the war in Europe. The outcome,or at least the timing of the outcome in Europe was influenced most by Hitlers arrogant decision to launch operation Barbarosa, had the german army been permitted to concentrate on the western front then i fear the outcome may have been different. Above all to state that the experiences of a survivor of and event such as Iwo Jima is,boring, is crass offensive and ignorant.Spoken no doubt by an individual whose closest experience of warfare has been garnered via his xbox games consol. My advice to you would be to thank god that that is true..these veterans have nothing but my undying admiration whichever "side" they came from and may future generations learn the great wisdom that they would teach us all..war is not worth it,wars are started by those who know they will never have to fight in them and are usually fought by those with no other option.

Jerseyboy and bluemonday have it about right between them, waste no sympathy on any investment banker 99% of the time the career is motivated by personal greed with a ****the "little man" mentality. Until there is a situation where employers and employees are all liable for the results(with no time limits)of all actions taken during their time with a company, there will continue to exist the "get rich quick and get out" mentality of all these superficial jerks. If i was regulating i would immediatly outlaw short selling of everything, and gradually phase out derivatives trading,if you want to invest in a sector..the only legitimate way should be by the direct holding of the physical stock. Short term investors looking for a fast buck should be disincentivized by the creative use of variable rates of tax/stamp duty, making short term investment horizons considerably less attractive. Today and indeed yesterday there will be many people managing to "make" huge "profits" by the shorting of banking stocks..which will itself make another collapse like Lehmans..more likely. This banking confidence crisis will now probably get worse before it gets better..the ceo of lehmans had the opportunity to sell out to the Korean development bank in the last couple of months..he turned down the offer of $29 dollars a share. Free markets work..but as soon as a free market starts to be viewed as an "investment market" then there is a pressing need for very rapid regulation..housing,commodities,oil..all have been free markets.. the trouble begins when people invest, not because they need a house to live in or oil to refine into petrol to sell, or copper because they are a cable producer, but just because they believe they will be able to sell it some time later for more money. The employees of lehman and other "blue chip..triple aaa rated,LOL companies",quite happy to bank money in the "good times",times before their criminal irresponsibilities become visible, should be made to make reparations personally as far as is necessary..if that means all the way to waiting tables..so be it. If there is no liability when it goes pear shaped..whats the incentive to behave responsibly?

Long live Moral Hazard. No sign of colamericas propaganda in this thread. I suspect this bank may have been rescued had Carlye group been a stock holder. BTW moral hazard is having to suffer the consequences of your decisions...whether they be good..or bad..it results in more sensible behaviour.
