Nothing wrong with a shotgun wedding at all, as long as the couple are doing for the right reasons. If they get married just because the guy has to be seen to be "taking responsibility" for it, then I'm against it 100%. The guy can still help with the parenting without them getting married. Getting married just because a kid happens along is a recipe for disaster.

Have the Olympics ever been profitable for any city? I think the greater majority end up in the red.

Considering the mess we are all in at the moment, Tokyo Olympics should be junked.

"...dressed up in in Chinese combat uniforms".

If that is true, then I can't wait for the Chinese to send their women over here to invade. I'll surrender into their arms as they land on the beaches!! Best Streetfigherists!!!

Purely case by case. Some people can do it and it works well for them. Others being emotionally insecure, might fail at a relationship and due to those insecurities have a difficult time dealing with that person at work. Not everyone is emotionally secure unfortunately.

She's going to marry the guy that belted her around? Jeez.

On tv yesterday (I think it was yesterday) Tamaki said he always had feelings for Ishihara. I heard that and thought it was such an insult to last wife. To me it'd be like saying, "Yeah, I could get the woman I wanted so I decided you'd be the next best thing". Fair enough he wants to get married again, no problem there, but to say such a think of tv was in bad taste. I definitely won't buy another of his CDs.

    "...heavy selling by foreigners".

This statement just stinks of the, "foreigners are out to get Japan" brand of thinking. Oh sorry, I forgot, "the foreigners" are just expected to buy Japanese goods and support their stocks and allow the Japanese to live in wealth and prosperity.

I really wish the translators could find to translate this stuff into something that is more pleasing to read.

I'm with Thenewfront on this, I don't like her much either, but I certainly can't blame her for wanting to provide for her children after she is gone. Money is the only thing she will ever be able to give them unfortunately.

I don't think there is a point Nessie, it was just something cool sounding to say in the article. The way the US airforce is made to procure new aircaft seems pretty bizarre to me. So many accountants and procedures to go through, getting a new plane out in less than 30 years seems impossible these days. Could you imagine what would have happened during WW2 if the US had to operate under the same conditions.

"“In the last two decades, the U.S. has used airstrikes to contain dictators, punish aggression, turn around international violations of sovereignty and stop regime-inflicted humanitarian disasters. No-fly zones squelched Iraqi military activity for a decade,” she wrote in a research paper for the Lexington Institute earlier this month".

In your wildest dreams I'd say. If Iraqi military activity had really been squelched, was the invasion of Iraq a necessicity? And I think many countries in Africa could say, "Where were you when we needed help America? Oh that's right, we've got no oil, not anywhere near Europe and nothing else useful for you ... guess we'll have to suffer through the bloodshed".

But other than that is the F-22 really useful? With being so few in numbers, if (and only if mind you) would the F-22s really be able to cover a large theatre? Even with all their capabilities they can't be everywhere at the same time. And if one were to lost, what would the cost be? I'm not just talking money, I mean what cost to the military operations in that arena plus the possibility of the technology being recovered by an enemy.

I remember when a B-2 crashed in Guam a while ago, a loss of something like 1 billion dollars and since there is only a handful of those bombers in operation it must put a strain on other operations.

Kind of sounds like the days of old with battleships, many people didn't want to risk them in combat as they represented a huge investment of a country's resources.

"The Russian side, although it had its own translator, could only understand what Nakagawa was saying through the translator on the Japanese side, the sources said".

If the situation was so bad, I wonder if the Japanese side's translator was making it up to make some attempt at saving Nakagawa.

I think they need a person from another country to do the job. Then the Japanese would grasp that something has gone truly wrong over the last 60 years, then they'll perk and get their act together.

Failing that, I think Winnie the Pooh would be an equally viable choice as the whole country loves him. That of course would lead us to the next problem of who to put inside the suit ...

In contrast to what is trying to be introduced with this idea of the doggie bag here in Japan, in some countries the opposite trend is becoming the case (i.e. doing away with the doggie bag). The reason for this is that some restaurants are worried about court cases due to being blamed for food poisoning from their food being consumed at a later date.

I'm sorry hannari, I was being sarcatic, it just really doesn't translate well over the internet does it, sorry.

Anyway, on the bright side, there will be no repurcussions for Nakagawa anyway :)

And ... why is Mori so upset? His gaffes while PM were absolutely hilarious.

"If anyone can push the auto companies into bankruptcy, it is this administration and Nancy Pelosi".

Well then, the US is up the proverbial creek as the last administration didn't do anything either, probably less. Anyway, I'll back Obama rather than the Republicans. At least give his plan a decent amount of time of work, the other guys were given 8 years and only succeeded in stuffing the whole lot up.

Quality Japanese government at its best. I find it amazing how his minders allowed him to go in front of the cameras in such a condition.

I find it highly err ... "regrettable" that Japanese companies can let go of thousands of workers but the country can finance its ministers as well as the prime minister's drinking habits.

"For starters, Japan doesn't maintain a huge nuclear military that trains with the United States in mind as the enemy. We could go on ad infinitum on this one".

As I said, what does Japan have to offer that China doesn't? Plenty of countries have nuclear arsenals and aren't so friendly to the US, nothing new there but only stating the obvious.

I think Mushroom cloud summed it up fairly nicely.

"The world IS a crazy and dangerous place. But if we started supressing people's thoughts like you are suggesting, then the world would be a sad and tragic place".

I have serious doubts that the majority of human beings in the world can thing in a rational way, that is why we need laws. We are not talking about suppressing people's thoughts (and I never suggested that, did I? You are definitely taking what I wrote out of context). To think about certain things (e.g. committing criminal or sexual acts), I think psychologists say is quite normal, but to act upon them is abnormal. I believe that allowing games like this to exist chip away at human morals and lower them. Much like drug use, start with the "party" stuff and it can lead to heavier substance abuse.

Anyway, would you play this at home? And if you played it at home and your wife, girlfriend or daughter walked in and saw you playing it, you believe it would be justifiable? I'm sure any woman in your life would have second thoughts about you. I think the killing or other violent acts we see in computer games is on a completely different level to this.
