If SHIORI could spell her name using lower and upper case correctly, I'm sure many of us here would be pleased.

SMAPxSMAP will be finally cancelled. It might even contribute to world peace, saving the planet as well as the whales. It might even lessen natural disasters ... we can only hope.

"So we have to keep convincing them cars are great".

If you have to convince someone that someone is great, is it really great?

"Nanda, I somehow doubt Japan's low highway death rate is a result of their lacks seat belt laws. More I would say it is because usually, cars can only inch along going bumper to bumper. Why not buckle up and reduce it even more?".

Statistically they have a low death rate because they play with those statistics. I think that in Japan if you die of causes related to a car accident within three months (I could be wrong on that time limit though) you are put down as a traffic statistic. In most other countries even if you die ten years later or whenever, but the cause of that death was a car accident, then you are a traffic statistic. Now wonder they can claim a low traffic fatality rate.

I've lived in Tokyo for nearly 20 years and have only wanted a car here for nostalgia's sake, as I had one back home. It would be nice to go driving on weekends out in the country back that would make driving only once a week (at most) for me, so it's not really worth getting one. I think I'll be one of the train crowd for a long time yet.

I'm glad he's going too, can't stand him. He seems to be one of the least reputable television presenters around. Much of the "advice" about medical, health and nutrition problems from his show have been viewed as very questionable by some people in the media.

Plus he was hosting another show a few years back that was an entire set up, everything was completely fake including the tears from the girls who had been under some severe "hardships".

Most of his act seems to be sympathetic face pulling to tug at the emotional heartstrings regardless of whether the story has little value or not.

I'll be releasing a sigh of relief when he goes.

I'd love to GW, but drinking by myself I find is rather boring ... as I'm the only person who then enjoys my jokes :(

1 hour on my exercise bike every day. I drink very little but that is due to my wife as she doesn't drink at all (I hate drinking by myself, so I tend not to drink when we go to a restaurant together). And we often go walking around Tokyo together to see a little more of the place.

Sakura is extremely widespread in Japan. One of the companies I used to work for, uses it. And I know many others do as well. I think the Japanese know all about sakura already.

"Why are foreigners calling her Ai-chan ??"

Why? Is it only allowed to be used by Japanese? I find it strange when Japanese people I know talk to me using Mr. followed by my first name.

Wow, she was such a part of the Japanese light entertainment world for a long time. I remember "discovering" her on Gilgamesh back in the early 90s (anyone remember that show?).

To be honest, I never really appreciated her very much but it is extremely sad to see a person go out in this style.

Why people do such stupid, wicked stuff like this is just beyond my ability to understand. It just goes to show how little we have travelled.

"I'm 32 and homeless! I've been working part-time since I graduated middle school and I'm not married and I was fired so now I can't live in the company dorm! Help me!"

I sure bet those people are truly regretting the career path they chose in the beginning. Japan is finally joining the real world at last.

Japan has quite a history for dismemberment murders especially over recent years. I wouldn't be surprised who might have done, could have been anyone.

Due to abence and/or abuse of certain laws in Japan, some Japanese have become overly paranoid about their, "privacy" and they can take it too extremes.

But on the other hand, there have been other cases of embarrassing events involving Google Street View. There was a newspaper reported case in Australia where a man's car was photographed outside his ex-girlfriend's house ... she asked him over to enteratain him apparently, but ended very badly when the man's wife found the shot on Google. Maybe just bad timing in his case hehe.

Xmas is my own worst day of the year in Japan, I truly dread it. I give a present to my wife, which she loves, then we meet after work and go out to dinner ... that is it. For some reason she really loves to get a present on Xmas day, even though I give many other presents during the year. Xmas is just truly lacking here, to be surrounded by Xmas but not the Xmas spirit we so enjoy back home.
