"If saying "I do" in English was too hard for them, maybe they could have said the more universal phrase, "OK!".
I think they should have used that often used Japanese gesture since saying, "I do" was too difficult ... just nodded their heads several times enthusiastically.

I find it difficult to believe that in what is proving to be difficult times for Japan the voter turnout is only 42%. Are the Japanese that apathetic as to what happens in their own country?

I think it is a great idea. Keep the aborigines happy and also for preservation's sake.
It was only a couple of years ago that Australia gave the aborigines a national apology. That apology would meaningless if Australia didn't respect aboriginal belief in some cases (such as this).
